St. Patrick School, Bay Shore

"Our child was assaulted by another student in her first-grade class resulting in serious bodily injury. The school did not apply any discipline as the perpetrator was a PTA mother's child; a privileged family. The Principal refused to answer any requests for accountability and deferred the lack of action to the sitting priest. During our meeting, racial and homophobic comments were made. When we expressed outrage for the school's lack of action, we were asked to leave because the school "could not meet our expectations." The district office administrator received our complaint and stated action was not in the scope of her deliverables. Safety is not a concern here. The school yard is open at all hours, whereas anyone on Main Street can walk in leaving youngsters targets. We have since left the school out of fear for safety. Unfortunately, our daughter is left with facial scars and an injured knee requiring weekly therapy. Families of color beware. LGBT families beware. If you are curious about other incidences, ask for the incident reports. Also, ask to see the exit rates. I am sure there is documentation, including ours, about how families were pushed out. Also research the water contamination study in this area that includes this school."
