Reviews of High School for Law Enforcement and Public Safety
"My daughter is a junior in this school and doing very well. She's achieved honors just about every quarter since starting the ninth grade and maintains a 90 GPA. I do admit there are a lot of areas this administration needs to improve. However, most of the problems that are occurring within the school are based on the students that come to past time and get high as mentioned in a previous post....Parents this is a reflection of the families these kids come from not the school! I too have had my battles with the administration regarding academics and the Math teacher Mr. Singh because I don't believe he's effective in teaching minority children strategies to master math especially when half of his class is constantly failing and the administration is aware of this and nothing is being done. However, on the flip side of that there are programs available to students who are struggling in their subjects......But it is the responsibility of the student to reach out and seek help if it is needed. Overall, I still feel with some adjustments and if the school could get rid of the non-productive students this school would be much better. As I constantly tell my child I send you to school to learn and that is the goal. I also believe the students that stay within the top 10 of their class, have a better chance of achieving good grades and moving on to college."
"As a former employee the school is a zoo and is out of control . The administration is a damn joke and they jealous when people like actually lookout for the students . they steal , smoke weed , fight, destroy property , abused staff and the staff and students are clueless and I feel sorry for the students who are actually good students being in there. if you isn't ghetto like that people in there you are on your own. though I stood up for myself and did meet a lot good kids the school overall is a mess and they did something dirty behind my back because I made a comment about the guy I replaced in the kitchen but I have help a lot of them . Though the students should take responsibility for their action it's the administration and the adults that set the tone . In the twenty years i worked as a school food employee I never saw a school so mismanaged the way I saw this school were . Adults are too busy thinking of themselves ,setting other adults up , letting the students do whatever. Go there any day you will see kids hanging in the hallway on the third floor, destroying property and doing crazy stuff in the cafeteria with adults watching, smoking weed on the fifth floor but they are worried about adults like me and few others who actually care for the kids , give them advice and lookout for them because it shows how inept they are. To call the school ghetto would be a disrespect to the world ghetto it's beyond that and the sad thing is there are a lot of good students and it seems like the administration only focusing on them and leave the rest to fend for themselves. to me they did me dirty and a few people that work there dirty and the school needs to be either taken over or closed down completely."
"Please do not send your child to this school. My child had been bully by another student at this school, and the school has not done anything to remove this bully from this school. Even though I have a police report on the other child. They would prefer me to remove my child from the school and leave the bully at the school. The staff at the school is not helpful at all including the principal. My child had a rough time in this school with all the bullying. My child got in an altercation with the bully attacking my child. My child has bruising all over and yet no security was no were to be find. It's not a safe place for your child. Again please do not allow your child go to this school."
"Graduated in the very first class back in 2007. Overall, the teachers were very kind and genuinely cared about you; they did their very best to help you grow and learn and prepare you for the outside world. They didn't have a diverse curriculum but some of the elective classes were very helpful/interesting. I can honestly say that if a student wanted to succeed and learn, they were afforded every opportunity to do so."
"This a great and beneficial school. Not only is it favorable academically but also in teaching life long lessons. It's my last year in this school and its fair to say that I have grown tremendously."
