"Our experience at St. Kevin Catholic Academy has been exceptional. We started in the Universal PreK program , and are now entering 1st grade! Our son has gained confidence , learned so much and made great friends . The teachers and principal are truly invested in the children’s education and experience. Even in the midst of a pandemic , our little was able to be part of school activities that were fun AND safe. Walkathon , Halloween Bash, Paint Night ,Lego Club etc ect …. the school used technology and thought outside the box to give the children and their families opportunities to still enjoy school activities. SKCA has been a very positive experience for our family!"
"SKCA is an amazing school! With our NEW PRINCIPAL in place (Mrs. Murphy) so many positive changes are happening. I grew up in the St Kevin parish, and have been a SKCA parent for the last 4 years . I love this school! With the installation of the science lab, the kids have a great new experience! Chrome books, art, music along with traditional learning make it a great experience for the kids. There is early morning drop off and afterschool available. The greatest thing about afterschool is the kids get to review and do their homework with the amazing team of teachers on staff. The teachers treat the kids like they are their own! The principal is outside greeting the children BY NAME in the morning, and is always available to talk about anything that is of concern. I wouldn't send my precious child anywhere but SKCA!!! A place to grow!!!!"
"St. Kevin's is an amazing school! I am so glad we found it when we were applying to UPK. My son had a wonderful first school experience as a result and will be attending St. Kevin's through 8th grade, as will his little sister. The entire staff was so warm and welcoming from day one. The school building itself is beautiful, clean, and well-kept. The teachers and staff are caring, supportive, and skilled. The home-school communication is absolutely top notch. I always know my son's progress and am informed about all of the events that go on. It seems like there is always something fun going on at St. Kevin's, including the walk-a-thon, monster bash, trunk or treat, family movie nights, marching in the Christmas parade, and the Christmas Carol sing along...the list goes on and on! There are so many opportunities for families to be involved in the school community and for children to bond with their peers. There are also a variety of sports and other extracurricular activities for students to get involved in. Yes, academics are important and the school is very strong in that regard, but St. Kevin's recognizes that school is supposed to be an experience and that they are educating the whole child. The new principal is exceptional. She empowers teachers, families, and students and is truly interested in hearing everyone's voice and promotes a clear vision for the school. She really values feedback and is an intentional, focused, and dedicated leader. I didn't set out to write a novel with this review, but it is difficult to keep it succinct because St. Kevin's truly is a wonderful school with too many wonderful qualities to list. If you are thinking of sending your child here, please do. You will not regret it. At St. Kevin's your child is seen as a unique and growing individual, not just a state test score."
"I am a St Kevin alumni, but a public school teacher, so at first it was a hard decision to make about where to send my first son to school, when he was approaching school age. My husband is also a catholic school alumni who believes in the values of catholic schooling as well as the friendships made through school and the extracurricular that the catholic youth guild provides (such as sports). Together, we made the decision to send our first son to SKCA and it has been a great decision that I won’t regret. Hence, his little brother has now followed right behind starting the pre-k program this year. Our older son is currently in 3rd grade and started there in Pre-K, so we’re entering our 5th year there. My older son, loves going to school and is so upset when he can’t go. When he was sick, he was more upset about missing the science experiment than anything else...the new science lab there is expansive. His teachers have been very caring and excellent at enriching his academic education. The classrooms have technology such as Smartboards and IPads which excite my little tech-savvy 8 year old! The curriculum and programs match or are similar to the ones I use to teach in the public school system and some are even better, in my opinion. I appreciate that the school values the learning of a foreign language in the young years. The Academy has encouraged creativity in art as well as instilled good morals and values through the religion classes and church time. It is great to be able to celebrate Christmas with the students at all of the events, fundraisers, and the amazing Christmas Concert, led by the talented music teacher. Every holiday, religious and national, is celebrated in many ways and the children enjoy them. The Academy Parent Association is wonderful and focused on parent communication and student collaboration/fun! I highly recommend SKCA if you’re looking for a fun, safe, loving, and enriching learning environment for your child."
"School is very caring. Dr. Piro and his staff are great human beings. I wish to see a bit more vigilance over homework and maybe a tougher oversight about handwriting. School produces quality citizens. Children are not overly protected so they are learn to deal with the real world, but at the same time, they maintain an extremely balanced and safe environment for children. These people know what they are doing. We are lucky to know them and anyone thats able to send their children there, should."
