P.S. 143 Louis Armstrong

"I went to PS 143 from kindergarten to fifth grade. I remember Mrs. Cumerbatch, Mr. Robinson , Mr. Mendelson and the lady janitor Mrs. Watson. Great experience, nothing like what schools are today. The school was 99% black the teachers cared and the school was very clean. I remember Mr. Mays kept the roughnecks inline him and another teacher they were big muscled teachers and had bats. Mrs. Lambie was a trip. I went to her apt. for tutoring she had this huge furry white cat. Thanks for the memories..."

"I went to this school over 30+ years ago. I had so much fun. My favorite teachers Mr. Knapp, Mr. Mackalla, & Ms. Lambie with the golden ruler. Mr. Mays was the principal at the time he was also awsome. I have nothing but good memories with this school. My daughter went here and my sister and now i am hoping to get my 5 year old in this year."

"I loved my time at this school the best, I'm old and gone now but I remember everything about it, switching to the trailer for 4th grade, walking to and from, the hand ball courts, the basket ball court we did so much back in those days lol. I remember when they added the new addition it was so nice and fresh and I remember all my teaches wounder if ms. Lowner is still their 2nd grade not sure if that's how you spell her name. . But excellent school then and probably even better now."

"I had my daughter in this school until the third grade. It was a really good school. The staff is well organized. The security they have is the best compared to the PS 127. I transferred my daughter to the PS 127 because we moved. This school is a nightmare. I regret the moment I decided to change her from this school."
