Colwell's Driving School

"I decided to take my highway lessons at Colwell because it was recommended to me and the lessons were cheaper compared to other schools. Unfortunately, my instructor Carmen made me feel nervous and discouraged throughout my lesson. She made comments like “I’m surprised you passed your road test” and even banged on the passenger door at one point while instructing me to look at the side which made me jumpy. She spontaneously asked me to parallel park just because she “wanted to see how the other school taught me”. I felt it became a competition about which school was better. I remember constantly glancing at the time hoping for the lesson to be over with. I hope Carmen will learn to be more compassionate and patient with new drivers. I will not be coming back here for more lessons."

"I originally went to Colwell’s because I was familiar with the school. I ended up having to spend WAY more then anticipated because my Instructor Julio spent the first 5 lessons yelling at me, he’s not really good with the compassionate thing so if you want that don’t have him as an instructor. He also expects you to come into the lesson having prior knowledge which is crazy if you never have driven it it’s been a while since you driven. He also taught me to park completely wrong to the point where I failed my test because of it. He doesn’t like to be told that he’s wrong but I feel that if you are spending your hard on money that the instructor should adjust to the learning style of the student. There’s a difference between knowing how to do something & Teaching it, he needs to retire because he doesn’t care about the well being of the students only the money."
