The Weaving Center at RSHM 50 Warren Avenue, Tarrytown, NY 10591
About the Business
The Weaving Center at RSHM, located at 50 Warren Avenue in Tarrytown, New York, is a unique institution dedicated to the art of weaving. Founded by Sister Bianca Haglich, RSHM, the Center offers a space for individuals to explore their creativity and learn the craft of weaving. With 27 floor looms of various sizes, warping mills, and a wide selection of yarns available for purchase, the Center provides all the necessary tools for both experienced weavers and beginners.
Inspired by her time in Finland, where weaving centers fostered a sense of community and creativity, Sister Bianca established the Weaving Center to be a place where people of all backgrounds could come together to weave and share ideas. Since its inception in 1977 as the Craft Skellar at Marymount College, the Center has been a hub for artistic expression and community building.
Although Sister Bianca is no longer at the Center daily, a dedicated group of volunteers continue to uphold her vision and offer workshops and loom rentals for those interested in weaving. The Weaving Center is a place where people of all ages and faiths can come together to learn and create beautiful handwoven pieces.
As part of the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary β Eastern American Area, the Weaving Center embodies the congregation's mission of promoting fullness of life and dignity for all. Through their diverse ministries and commitment to community and prayer, the RSHM sisters continue to enrich the lives of those they serve and collaborate with others who share their vision. Visit the Weaving Center to experience the beauty and tradition of handweaving and be a part of this vibrant artistic community.

Reviews
"Great place to learn to weave using traditional floor looms. There's over 25 floor looms and, most of all, several experienced master weavers always willing to teach and share."
"This is the place where I learned to weave. Classes are available starting in the fall for all ability levels. So many talented weavers are here day to day, willing to share their expertise. Looms can be rented. Some yarn is available for sale."
