St Marks Co-Op Nursery School

"So happy we found St Marks Nursery School. My son spent two summers going to camp there and was enrolled in the three and fours program. The teachers and staff are phenomenal. Fun, loving, energetic personalities that keep the kids always wanting to learn. They learn through play, reading, interactive activities and field trips and so much more. There is a music class that they all attend which is amazing, where the kids are so involved and having fun. The playground is a very special place as well. Because it is a co-op, parents are very involved which really gives it that family/community feel. Participations days at the school are a highlight for me. I love being in class with my kids seeing what they do and getting to spend time with them there. We’ve met some amazing friends while at St Marks which was so nice since we were new to the area. My oldest is now in kindergarten and excelling. I know it’s because of the experience he had at St Marks. My daughter is now in the 3s program and thriving and making friends and having a blast. So happy she still has this coming summer and next year so we can continue to be a part of the St Marks family."

"When researching preschools for my son, I had a lot of boxes to check that included nurturing teachers, play-based education, warm families, and a community of parents passionate about being involved in their children's school. I was fortunate enough to find St. Mark's and watch my son grow among an incredible environment. Having the options of extended days to 2 pm with a great selection of programs made my life easier as a busy mom of 2. My son has made lifelong friends, and I've fostered connections with staff members and parents that will last a lifetime. The unique experience of participating in my son's "special days" is a rare glimpse of witnessing how he thrives and interacts at school. "We are a new family at St. Mark's this year and I was nervous about entering the community as a 4s family (many have been there since 2s!) We left another local preschool that was fine but felt lacking in warmth and community. My son and I are thrilled about the change. The teachers are so fun and energetic, the classrooms are bright and full of toys, and what I love most of all is that the children spend much of the day in play. They learn plenty (my son knows most of his letter sounds and it’s only January!) and read a lot of books, but they get outside, half of their classroom is open with space to play, and they are allowed to be kids. The most surprising thing for me is that I was nervous as a full time working mom how the coop aspect would work for our family. I spent a day in my son’s classroom and enjoyed it so much. It was really precious to see how his days go at school and realistically it’s only 9-1, which isn’t even a full work day. I like the coop aspect more than I expected. Everyone is so kind. I am excited to send my daughter to St. Mark's for 3s! Thanks St. Mark's!"

"My 3 children have been students at St. Mark’s preschool, and it’s such a magical place. The teachers and staff take care of our children like their own. It’s so empowering to be able to have a parent’s voice as a representative of their class and be able to volunteer to join in the classroom every few months to make the children’s day so memorable. Preschool time goes by so quickly, and it’s so special to join in on your child’s experience. I’m so grateful and happy that I had and still have the chance to join this amazing community."

"St. Marks is such a special school. When touring the school for my son, I could tell right away this was the school for my family. It is a warm, loving, inviting environment that values family participation. The teachers are truly amazing. In the twos and threes, most learning is done through play and it is so incredible how much learning is tucked into fun activities. My favorite part of St. Mark’s cooperative program is the special days in the classroom. Once children are in elementary school, it is so hard to join in on the learning done inside the classroom. Special days allow parents or caregivers the opportunity to spend the day inside the classroom and see their child’s learning in action. When my son was in the threes last year, it was so nice to be able to extend his school day with lunch bunch and with special enrichment classes. He especially loved the science class and still talks about the experiments! This year my daughter is in the two transition class. I love that I get to join her for the first half of the year and then she will transition to going by herself for the second half. I know she will be ready for the threes program next year because of this wonderful class offering. I joined the school’s board as my volunteering opportunity and it is so lovely to be surrounded by a community of kind, motivated parents who all want to make our children’s first school experience positive and memorable. I cannot say enough great things about St. Marks!"
