"Went here when I was 2 going on 3 in 2003 and graduated from kindergarten. I loved this school and all the staff that used to work here. Now I’m 17 graduating high school next month. Don’t know how this school is now but loved it when I attended."
"The sercruity at the front desk the old lady is horrible she thinks she’s running a high school and it’s only an elementary school she’s mean they need better kids friendly sercruity that makes the parents feel a little better and safe when dropping off their children to school. She’s always yelling and srecaming at the parents you can’t do this you can’t do that. THIS IS AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL! (Not ERAMUS HS) The school is an Good the teachers are great the one star is for the way things are being done there!"
"My daughter is in this school from kindergarten to 4 grade this school is one of the best in Brooklyn .the education is very good I totally recommend this school to the parents to wants a good education for their children.my daughter is going to 5 grade next year and I know we going to mised this school ."
"The 1 star is for the poor overworked good teachers the school does have like Mrs. Martin and Mr.Siguero. But there are teachers that seriously need to retire. What do I mean when I say this? Well we have experienced 2 class changes since we have been with PS 249. Mrs.McFadden was rude and made all of the students uncomfortable. Her communication skills include yelling at the children and forgetting her previous instructions putting the children under a lot of stress. Whether the teachers are burnt out or not the administration is not doing anything but enabling this kind of behavior. In addition to that the school has volunteers working there that have not been finger printed or had background checks done. This woman Mrs. Lashley is ignorant and uneducated and has no prior training or education in regards to working with children. So how the school permits her to volunteer with children is beyond me. She chooses her favorites and treats the non-favorites children very differently. When this was brought to the administrative staff's attention the response was very disappointing. Mrs.Ho the assistant principal must not have time for concerned parents. She blatantly and disrespectfully shrugged the situation off. Furthermore she didn't even provide the courteousy of returning a phone call. So if you are looking for unprofessional, possible criminals to be around your children, unresponsive staff in administration and teachers that need to relearn how to communicate with children. Then I suggest you should send your children to PS 249."
