"Had all our tests done and waited months for a follow up. Received countless confirmations the week leading up to the appt and the day before at 330pm I get a call letting me know that the contract between them and my insurance hasn't been signed and "so the doctor won't get paid so we have to cancel. " they couldn't be bothered to pick up the phone or even just put it in my chart? Nothing until PTO was taken and it's the evening before the appt? Maybe it's time to get a new coordinator bc my five year old would do a better job."
"Have lost blood flow to optic nerve. This was diagnosed and confirmed by 3 different doctors in SC. AND also at EMORY Atlanta GA . DUKE eye center doctor Lagg says psychological issue not optic nerve. Because he didn't find neurological issue he says my eyes are fine and I should not be going blind. In other words I'm crazy and making this up. I wouldn't Reccomend wasting your time with this place. There are better places to go."
"We have faught for so long to get my daughter some relief and answers! We were going to an eye doctor in Greensboro and they always just recommended surgery or something that wasn't necessary... I took it up on myself to call Duke and schedule her appointment. Best decision I have ever made. Since then, she can finally see better than she ever has and has 2 diagnosis that actually make sense. We were recently referred to a pediatric neurologist in Duke and after leaving message after message with no call back, I called Duke and got a new referral sent to Brenner's.. after waiting 4 hours (talking to several different people with no luck) I called and Mallory helped make it happen and was so sweet! I love Duke and the help with getting us answers to problems my daughter has dealt with for 9 years"
"My 5 month old has been referred here because he doesn't have control of his eyes. I was excited because I've only heard good things about Duke but I'm not having a good experience. I've called several times and get told they haven't received the referral and I've sent it personally twice along with insurance sending it. Sounds like very poor staffing for such great doctors."
"I went here in November '22 for a detached retina, which was already diagnosed elsewhere. Essentially, I saw the doctor/surgeon, and all they really did was confirm the diagnosis. I was told I would be contacted by the surgery scheduler, and I told her the doctor had said I could possibly be scheduled in a week or two. Scheduler says, "She's currently scheduling in March." My response was 'check with the doctor and get back to me'. Never heard a word, but by that point, I could tell there were some left-hand, right-hand issues here, and I'll never use Duke Health for anything. Oh, and where I finally had the surgery, a retina specialist shop had told me that waiting til March would've been a serious mistake. The doctor care may be great if you can actually get to it through the admin challenges."
