"Arrived here at 11:00. First in line no wait for the emergency room. I asked the nurse in the waiting room why it was taking so long to get called back into a tent and I was told that it was being cleaned. So I sat and waited for an entire hour waiting for my tent to be "cleaned". Then after I got called, I got to my tent and sure enough the tent wasn't even touched with disinfecting wipes. I always thought hospitals are supposed to be the cleanest and sanitized places. It had marks on the floor, pieces of bans aids and all sort of mess. Walls and floors look like they haven't been washed in days. I called one of the guys from the front desk to take a look at it and he told me "what am I looking at? There's no mess". Oh yeah there's garbage everywhere. The bathroom as well, just a mess. No sanitation at all. Another thing, very slow service. I've been here since 11 today and still here at 5 am. All that was done during this time was blood test, cti test, and morphine. I have not even been treated yet and still in pain. Never coming back here again, this is bizarre."
"I was a patient for 4 days the week of January 24, 2024. This is the filthiest hospital I have ever set foot. My private room restroom literally had feces on the wall, the floors were so dirty the bottom of my hospital socks were black. Dust everywhere. My bed linens were never changed, and “housekeeping” consisted of taking out trash. The cleaning staff left used towels and gowns in the bathroom that I had to move myself to use the facilities. There is no patient hygiene assistance, and no one bothered to explain there are nutritional menu options available if you do not care for the food. I just went hungry and found out upon discharge a patient can make their own meal choices. I found it appalling no one asked about my lack of appetite. I do not expect a hotel expedience, I expect basic human care."
"My daughter was seen in the ER 1/17/24. She arrived with 10/10 pain from a kidney stone. The woman at the desk was cold, unwelcoming, uncaring, never made eye contact with her, and was devoid of any human traits. Since all beds were full, my daughter had to sit in the waiting area in excruciating pain. She was progressing to a mental break and asked to see a patient advocate. A woman came to see her, and rather than advocate for her in any way, she was unhelpful, rude, and accused my daughter of being condescending before she just walked away. Since she has endured many ER visits and hospitalizations in her life, my daughter just needed someone to tell her that everything was going to be alright. The staff had plenty of time to laugh at the desk, but no one had time to check on patients in the waiting area. This "advocate," who she described as African American with short hair and red highlights, caused her extreme distress. She called me sobbing. I don't understand why a patient in your care needs to call her mother in Colorado to ask for help. Someone needs to help me understand why the staff in your ER is so callous and inhumane to clients in distress. Please be aware that I was a RN in major medical centers for 42 years. I know firsthand how patients should be treated, and the errors my daughter suffered will not be overlooked or excused. Of note, the urologist who wanted to take my daughter from ER straight to surgery came in and examined the wrong patient. That poor woman, also suffering from a kidney stone, then told her family to leave because she thought she would be having surgery. Some time thereafter, the ER physician came in and told her she could go home. Her family was already gone. I believe that patients are given a wrist band so things like this can be avoided. The canned reply is useless. And the phone number provided does not have a voice-mail function. Looks like Sharon Shell can't be bothered."
"My father in law was taken to the ER 19 days ago. He was in surgical ICU for that time. There were some very nice nurses and one doctor who truly seemed to care about him. However, it seemed like others just wanted to do various procedures to practice on him. The last day, when it was decided to unhook his respirator and allow him to pass peacefully, the nurses were extremely insensitive and rushed. While my husband was outside waiting for our daughter to arrive, they walked in, put their gloves on, and started to turn the machines off without saying a single word to my mother in law or me. I said wait, are you doing it now? They said yes but they could wait 5-10 min. I said yes, wait and went to get my husband. Thankfully, he got another nurse who allowed us to wait for our daughter to arrive, so we could be together for his last moments. We will all in the future do everything possible to go to a different hospital system."
"Care for my son was good. But you would expect a hospital to be clean and disinfected. This place is nasty. Blood literally on the floor and walls. Crusted up material on the "sterile tray". Whoever hires housekeeping needs to reevaluate their employees because they're definitely not cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms. Blood....on the floor and the walls. Is it someone who is HIV positive? Who knows? And who cares right?"
