Reviews of Garner Family Practice
"I am very pleased with Dr Scott & her nurse. I feel very comfortable with them & they both are willing to listen & help me with any issues I may have."
"“Upcoding, unbundling is an act of fraud committed against the federal government” or “Lack of informed consent”. This and many more definitions aren’t a bother for UNC health. Their motto “Scam to the end!” Initially I and my husband were happy we found this practice, doctor seemed understanding. We had two separate annual wellness visits two weeks apart. We are completely healthy and doctor confirmed it. Each of us asked the doctor to do nothing more than annual wellness exam. Each of us specifically mentioned that we can’t have any blood works etc. done that are not part of the annual wellness check up and not covered by our insurance. We simply said to the doctor to make sure we won’t encounter any bills for unnecessary works done and here for an annual wellness check up that is covered by insurance and we want nothing more that that. Doctor agreed and said that we are completely healthy people and there is no need to do anything beyond what is considered an annual check up. She did some physical and ordered some blood work saying that everything is for preventative care and always covered by insurance as it’s not a diagnostic procedure and we are healthy young people. Time passed and each of us received bills from UNC stating that we owe UNC money for the blood tests etc. When we called UNC billing they stated that our visit was billed as preventative, but blood work billed as diagnostic. They simply said that there is a mistake on their part and they billed the visit correctly, though blood works they decided to do are diagnostic. So we are charged for a diagnostic procedures during wellness check up. They stated that these mistakes occurred in the clinic and they will investigate it. But a lot of time passed and there is no solution or any reply yet. Calling them is a total nightmare as they say one thing and then another representative say completely another thing. I was told that my husband’s bill dispute was submitted for the full amount and the very next representative says the only small part of the amount was submitted and she can’t do anything. They are secretive and simply ignoring my questions and replying with completely irrelevant information. It happened before with my son’s exam at UNC, when they switched providers on us and refused to help us, then sent us bills with unbelievable amount for the services not received. Save yourself time, money and simply mental exhaustion. Their whole system is rotten from the top to the bottom. “The fish rots from its head”. UNC is exactly like that and it’s rotten to its core. Go Duke or WakeMed or even better, go to separate private practices. Run from UNC! They know it’s your health, though for them it’s a business and the way to steal your money. When you explicitly say I do not need specific procedure because I can’t pay for that and doctor agrees that you don’t need it and performs it anyway behind your back. Or simply billing and coding you incorrectly. That’s their policy. Federal law is not their concern. UNC will find the way to take your money. They will simply find the way to harass you with the bills later. Again, it happened not only to me, but my husband and my kid as well! Incorrect coding, unbundling, upcoding is that what UNC is interested in! Lack of informed consent and you not agreeing for a procedure is not a bother for them. Preventative is preventative, not the reason for UNC to do illegal thing they are doing. Again, they will tell you they are doing preventative care meanwhile doing diagnostic without your permission against your will and then start sending you bills for wrong services and procedures you were even not aware of is performed on you or never even performed at the first place. Stay away!"
"First off, I see Dr. O’Neill and I would 100% give her 5+ stars. This review has nothing to do with her. The front desk / the employees who answer the phones are absolutely HORRENDOUS. I am a fairly easy person to get along with. This is not the only time I have had an issue with these same employees. These employees make me not want to step one foot in that office. I keep coming back solely for my doctor. The woman who I talked to today was rude, talked over me, and did not listen to a word I said. I’m a nurse myself and have also worked in customer service for 11 years, so I know how to treat people. These people need to find a new job. I tried to look everywhere for the contact information for the office manager, but had no luck. Hopefully she/he sees that most of these reviews are about her employees and realizes she/he has some training to do. I’m one more rude comment away from being another patient who leaves this office because of them."
"My wife had been going here for 2 years and established a great relationship with Dr. Jessica Anderson. Unfortunately, the admin desk and process for scheduling has gone to the gutter so this review is solely for them and their office manager. Otherwise, the doctors are great. The only option to schedule is call their main number and wait over 30 minutes on hold. My wife is hearing impaired so is unable to use the phone and I've tried calling on her behalf without success. Then finally my wife drove by to schedule an appointment in person and was refused by the front desk person. No desire from the front desk to accommodate a patient with a disability. No respect, empathy or consideration whatsoever. No apology that they couldn't accommodate. Since when has the doctor's office become the DMV? It amazes me how this day and age doesn't have more options for scheduling online. Nobody wants to wait on hold for hours on the phone especially as something important as a doctor's appointment. We found another doctor's office that allows scheduling online so this isn't asking for much. I hope the office manager can see this and take action otherwise this place is not going to last. Modernize your scheduling system and join the 21st century."
"This was my first visit and let me just say I am VERY happy I chose Dr. Anderson as my primary physician even though I live an hour away! The front staff was friendly and welcoming. I waited no longer than 10 minutes ( including time to fill out new patient paperwork ). Dr. Anderson and her nurse are phenomenal!! They took their time with me and listened to all my concerns. She refilled all my prescriptions and even did lab work. I sent several messages on the App and both Dr. Anderson and her nurse responded very quickly. I needed a prior authorization on one of my medications and her nurse submitted it immediately and informed me as soon as it was approved. I recommend Dr. Anderson to anyone that wants a friendly..efficient..welcoming doctor and practice!!!"
