"Idle curiosity... I read some of the comments that patients have made about the Timberlyne facility, and I am quite astounded! Many of the comments are a year or more old. My wife and I have always had great Customer Service. The 3 doctors that have seen me have been professional, respectful and knowledgeable. My PCP, Dr. Grandis, has been seeing me for years and is always keen to hear me recite my litany of "ills.""
"I have been coming to Duke Primary Care Timberlyne for many years. My doctor (Dr. Messick) is hands down, the best primary care doc I've ever had. Felicia is the best nurse! They've both been there forever, and I always feel welcomed and cared about when I come in. Whether it be a routine checkup, or I'm sick- those two are a team to be reckoned with! I would wait as long as I had to if needed to be seen by them. I have some experience with the other practitioners and they are also wonderful. I tend to stick my favorites, just for continuity and maintaining the patient relationship. Duke doctors provide excellent care and have impeccable bedside manner. I feel thankful to have them as my doctors & nurses! This office is roughly 30 min from my home, and at one point was an hour & 20 from my home- I still continued to go to Chapel Hill just to stay at this facility. Make an appointment here. You will not regret it! You will be listened to and cared for. You'll leave with a plan to get better. Timberlyne team- you all rock!"
"Dr. Borun is horrible. I have never been treated so poorly by a physician and other "professionals" where there was such blatant disregard for my health, and moreover my safety, from abruptly having to stop my medication on part of Dr. Borun. Several of the front desk receptionists refused to ask Dr. Borun if he would send a script to my pharmacist for a 2 DAY supply of my anti-depressant med until my doctor visit later that week; he previously told them he would not honor my requests for a month refill until I met with him. The referral clerk told me that she had over 100 patients at two different clinics and couldn't possibly get to everyone and that I would have to wait my turn...it had already been 6 months that I was waiting for my "Emergency referral". My mom and I ended up doing the work ourselves. Back to Dr. Borun. Without going into too many details he claimed to have diagnosed me, even though I brought my files from my previous physician when I was out of state and charged me for said "diagnoses". At that same visit he sent me to get lab tests for things I had already had done 3 months prior, so there was really no point other than to hike up the price of my self-pay bill; when your out-patient doctor visit is double the price of your discounted ER bill you know something is wrong. I would also add it is misleading on the Duke MyChart that the note you write to your physician isn't always or maybe ever read or replied to by your physician, but rather someone else and often the original message isn't relayed in its entirety. Long story short, Dr Borun, I now know, has a reputation with my pharmacy as being the most difficult physician they work with (and have ever worked with) and is notorious for not respecting or acknowledging refill requests. I will be finding another physician that actually cares about their patient and is concerned about their health and well-being. I would not refer my worst enemy to this clinic, but especially not to Dr Borun. I gave one star because it is required to post, if I could I'd give it zero."
"If people are curious why the U.S. healthcare system is failing, they should choose Duke Primary Care Timberlyne as their provider. Primary care is so aptly named because it is supposed to be the primary location where a patient receives and coordinates their care. Not this place. After a wonderful appointment with the physician, I was supposed to be on my way to treating a recently developed and painful condition. After an attempt to cure the condition with prescription drugs, the next step was to get an x-ray to look further into the issue. The nightmare begins. After my prescription ended and the pain returned full force, a single call 3 days later with no voicemail was deemed "we've been trying to reach you" per a follow-up email informing me that the x-ray has been ordered. The ensuing weeks have consisted of attempts to obtain the x-ray, where Monday employee states "only walk ins are available, but you have to call the day of to make sure the radiology technician is in that day and that the machine is working." Weird, but okay. Call next day and Tuesday employee informs me that I "need to schedule an appointment." Easy enough. Morning of appointment, a missed call and voicemail informed me that the x-ray technician will not be in. Hmm. After attempting to schedule an appointment online, I was told via email (likely by Monday employee once again) that x-rays are obtained by walk-ins only. I will be walking in to receive the x-ray (hopefully the x-ray tech is in!), but it is more like I will be doing a limp-in since it will have been a few weeks since I first visited Duke Primary Care only to be treated like a Secondary Patient."
"Most of the people here complaining seem to be entitled crybabies. I originally came from Blue Ridge Family Physicians in Raleigh. THAT place had atrocious service. Long wait lines and physicians or doctors quick to kick you out the door without a care in the world about your health and the staff was deplorable and treated you like trash. Just the survey the pre-service medical history background with Timberlynes Duke Primary Care was deep and indepth. The doctor (Mickie) was heavily engaged in my health as a first time patient and offered all sorts of tests if I chose to take them based upon my health background as well as vaccines/boosters I needed. I generally felt cared for and the wait was less than 5 minutes! I like this place!"
