Norwood Head Start is a comprehensive school readiness program located at 22 North Main Street in Norwood, New York, United States. Our program is federally funded and caters to children between the ages of 3 and 5. We have experienced, certified teachers who provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment for children, including those with special needs. Children at Norwood Head Start will develop skills in math, science, literacy, language, social/emotional, and physical health and development through play and structured activities.

We offer both full day and part day classrooms, as well as home-based services, to ensure that children have the opportunity to gain social and emotional skills through play. Our home-based services provide the same quality education as our classrooms, with the only difference being that the learning environment is in the child's home. Trained home-based visitors provide weekly learning experiences for children, with group experiences held twice a month for socialization with peers.

Transportation to and from Norwood Head Start is provided in agency owned DOT inspected buses with monitors and safety restraints. Children receive screenings for growth and development, vision and hearing, and speech evaluation. Families also receive assistance in accessing community services.

Parents and caregivers are encouraged to be involved in their child's education from the beginning. We provide information on community resources, help identify family strengths and goals, and offer opportunities for parents to learn leadership skills and effective parenting tips.

Our buses are equipped with cameras and our drivers and monitors receive extensive training to ensure the safety of our children. We have 8 centers with 14 classrooms in St. Lawrence County, and our Home Based Program offers services for children and families in their own homes.
