"So I have a bill from Mission and it’s Doctors that went to collections on my credit report. One for 1500 the other $579 dollars. So I called the hospital and they showed paid by Medicaid. Now they want me to pay in collections. This is double billing at its best. The $579 was supposedly written off on Charity. I don’t understand why Medicaid just was not billed. I gave them the information as well??? So I am in the process of disputing the charges through Credit Karma."
"Went to Mission ER (Carolina Emergency Medicine) with all symptoms of COVID-19. My temp was taken at the front door, they did an EKG, and said go home and rest. “Probably” just a little congestion. I was having a lot of difficulty breathing !!! The nurse (??) whose name was Cinnamon, showed me which door to go out of, back down to the Entrance, and they had made my wife go back to car, so it was difficult to get down the hallway, then down to the car !!!! There was nobody in the Waiting Room, so why make my wife go out ?? I got no antibiotic, no suggestion to see a Dr., nothing. I was told the EKG was showing “I wasn’t having a heart attack right at that time.” I asked about the fever, cough, difficulty breathing, being COVID, and got NO ANSWER!!!!! It must have been a respiratory infection, which my wife took care of me by giving me over the counter meds (Mucinex and Coricidan), kept me hydrated and kept an eye on my fever. Now I’m receiving written statements, text messages, and calls - every single day - fit a bill of nearly $2,000.00 !!! For what ???? I’ve seen nothing to show they ever filed my insurance, so fat chance of getting that kind of money out of me !!! The “old fashioned way” of having Hospital Internists rotate in the ER, so they were part of the Hospital itself, was much better. These company run ER’s are terrible !!!!!"
"Went to Mission Emergency in Asheville NC with a life threatening swell jay in sever pain. They scan my jay after 2 visits the same day. First the said it was a tooth problem. Went to dentist and the dentist said your teeth and gums are fine. Go back to the hospital. Went back and the finally found the infection was in my jaw bone. Option was have my teeth pulled to get to the infection in my jaw or have surgery cutting into my jay from the side which would leave me scarred. So I had my teeth removed, which had no problem, and went down and cleaned the infection in my jaw. The emergency billing put down that I had a tooth problem and was turned down by Medicare. They billed as a tooth problem. The problem was in my jaw bone. They refused to correct the way they billed and placed me on collection without notice and ruined my credit. They are non caring. Advise not going to Mission."
"I was having trouble with the billing department and called Blue Cross to explain what was happening. The woman there offered to call the company with me in a three-way call and I can't tell you how helpful that was. Before they knew BCBS was on the line it was clear they were going to give me the runaround. Once the BCBS person announced herself they resolved things extremely quickly. Given all the BBB and Google review complaints, I wish Mission Hospital would switch to internal emergency room doctors. I called Carolina Mountain's billing payments number but couldn't get through to anyone but was able to get through to a person calling their automated attendant number."
"I don't know about the doctors - the PA we saw was fine. But if you can avoid getting a doctor from this group when you're at the ER, do so. Their billing department is horrendous. We were in a car accident and my wife had to go to the ER as a result. After our medical insurance adjusted the claim, and the information was sent to the auto insurance carrier (we were rear-ended, not at fault), we contacted all the doctors/groups/facilities involved with our ER visit. All except CMEM were willing to wait a while for payment. Not CMEM. They wanted payment immediately, and would not put it off so much as a month or two to give the auto insurance time to do its thing. Now the auto insurance carrier has been slow, and we have been paying our bill on a payment plan. When we went to pay the bill tonight, we found they want the entire remaining amount, and there is no way to contact anyone. They are only an automated system until "normal business hours" (aka, 4:00 p.m.) when it's difficult to call them because everyone is at work at that time. There is no email or online contact form. No way to contact them. HORRIBLE experience with them."
