"Dr. Stegman is a terrific developmental & behavioral pediatrician. He has been in the field for 45 years. He knows his stuff! My son is autistic and is nonverbal. Once we got in to see Dr. Stegman, he was kind and worked with my son very well to be able to diagnose him. After the initial diagnosis, Dr. Stegman has given me some great advice and information about outside help I can also get. He had a list of centers and programs in our area that would help my son further. If you can get in with him, he will set you up for a lot of positive outcomes if you really get on board with all the help that he talks to you about during your appointment. With saying that, he is HARD to get an appointment with. Be prepared to go anywhere from 2 to 4 months for an appointment with him. That’s how busy he is. I’ve heard that he sees around 400 to 500 kids. These are “active” patients! So make sure you can keep your appointments with him, because it’s super hard to reschedule that’s not another 2 to 3 months out."

"I have to say that he is the best in his field in the state of NC. I have had encounters with other specialists, doctors, therapists and pharmacists that have said - "it would be great if you could get in with Dr. Stegman" or "you're so lucky you have Dr Stegman." He has been my son's doctor since he left the NICU and I KNOW that I am lucky and that he is an amazing doctor. He is kind, perceptive and intelligent. His staff is great with my son and he feels very comfortable to be himself there. I never have issues getting an appointment made or getting to him or his staff but I use the My Atrium app and message there and request everything I need there and if it requires speaking with someone then I always get a call back. I suggest you install that app on your phone and you'll have no issues."
