"I just started going to Dr. Flax. He made me feel comfortable and at home immediately. He is very personable, honest, and a perfectionist. He completed my crown the other day. He explained the process and he uses state of the art equipment. My crown fit perfectly! I feel like it’s hard to find a good dentist, so he now has a loyal customer!"
"I can only speak of my first experience there, not his dental work. When I called to make the appointment, I confirmed with his secretary: "I have ___insurance, do you take that?". Her response, "Yes, we take___". I made the appointment. On my union's dental insurance website, he was also listed on a link to a PDF as a participating provider. When I went to pay my co-pay, the bill was $185. X-rays and an exam. No cleaning. My usual co-pay with my insurance would have been $15 - WITH a cleaning. The secretary said, "We bill ____ the $85, you pay $100". Me, being terrible at confrontation on the spot, paid it and left. I got on my car and immediately called my insurance who told me Dr. Flax stopped participating with ____, a year ago. She said the office should have told me when I booked the appointment that they DO NOT participate in my insurance, but they THEMSELVES can still submit a portion to the insurance which means I will still be paying MORE OUT OF POCKET, as opposed to the copays and costs I would pay with a participating provider. She said, "Dentists do this all the time, that is how they get people". I called back and expressed my concerns to his secretary about the co-pay, what I was told about insurance when I booked, and if she could speak with Dr. Flax and have him call me. She said she would and she would call me back. No one ever called back. I called the next morning and inquired again. She said, "I spoke to Dr. Flax and he said he told you when you were here that we didn't take your insurance...." Dr Flax only mentioned it AFTER my exam and X-rays were done. I assume he assumed his own office informed me beforehand? Lesson learned for me - ask specific insurance questions before booking to ANY PROVIDER. As for Dr. Flax, not admitting to his office’s oversight, not taking 5 minutes of his time to call back - tells me this: He got paid, he knew I wasn't coming back as a patient, so he didn't care. That speaks volumes. Never again."
"If you are looking to change to a quality dental practice, look no further. Dr. Flax provides some top notch dentistry. Appointments are quickly made and scheduling was a breeze. Very little waiting for the appointment, which is a refresher from waiting 30+ minutes in an office for a scheduled appointment at other offices. Dr. Flax reviews your records and your history with you and clearly lays out a plan. It seems like every step is communicated and nothing is done without you understanding what will be done and how that's best for you moving forward. He's always open to listening to any of your concerns and addresses them first before moving forward. If you're afraid of needles, Dr. Flax is quite proficent at them, and you'll barely notice it, though it is visible. I'm sure requests from the squeamish would be obliged. He is attentive to whether you are experiencing any pain and will ask very regularly how you are doing throughout your procedure. Quite few negatives about the practice. The place could use a little update to decor and amenities aren't as robust. For those that are shy, some of the front of house practices might be difficult to interact with, but otherwise the staff are very friendly and proficent in their work. Courtesy calls for your appointments are given and are always respectful."

I recommend Dr. Flax as he is kind and courteous and listens to how you feel. He is willing to work with you and get you to feel better! the wait time in his office is minimal."
