Reviews of National Black Theatre Festival
"Great experience!!!!! The people were extremely nice, friendly and it felt so good. Just a beautiful event with beautiful people. Enjoyed the experience of seeing the reading of the stage play 'Inside My Head' written by Michael Garica. The venues were awesome and the vendors had some nice amazing merchandise. Big thank you to all that made this a awesome event. Thank you Winston Salem"
"I am a W-S native and I have watched this festival from its beginning, from near and far, grow to become an internationally recognized festival of Black excellence in theater and performance art. In the 2022 festival, there are so many unforgettable performances to be experienced but do not miss Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, directed by Corlis Hayes written by August Wilson and performed by BNS productions (BNS) from Charlotte, N.C. led by Rory Sheriff. Rory, a friend and colleague, is man of clear vision, heart and talent for telling stories that touch the souls of all folks but specially Black folks. This BNS production is not to be missed."
"This is an experience you will never forget! The city is alive more than ever. Celebrities walk the streets comfortable like this is home, we make them feel safe here. Artistic ingenuity comes alive and Winston Salem gets to experience it first hand. You don't want to miss a minute of it! Plays, the parade, the reads, musicals, book signings, the shopping its artistic HOLY GROUND! Come join us! You will leave more enriched than you came."
