Key Dental Plan

"Plan sounded great, so bought a 5-yr plan as needed lots of dental done (due to who I believe was an unethical dentist like 12 yrs ago). So, I went to a new dentist for a cleaning, but they said they don't take this plan (don't use the AVS, use the info on the back of the card), but they told me they still don't take it, although was on their website for acceptable dentists. Then, off to another Paradontal dentist to have 3 molars extracted (1 bottom, 1 ea side top back). My Medicare dental plan paid for extractions. However, due to being only back molars left (had teeth pulled at 14 for braces to fit), doctor told me my top sinus' would collapse unless the "hole" was filled with cadiver gel, which attaches to your bone and fills the space (bottom open area not neede to be filled). Being I already have a deveated septin (sp?) on my R side, and get sinus infections, I opted to pay the $900/each tooth, for the gel, out of my pocket (as not covered by insurance). Now, the first tooth I didn't think about using this plan for, but the 2nd cadiver tooth saved me a whole $50 using the card. Better than nothing, but no where near recovering the 5-yr plan's cost. So, the other day I called AVS to inquire if they covered any of the costs NOT paid by my Medicare dental plan when it comes to my upcoming bridges or plates I need to fill in the missing teeth. Apparently that's double dipping (why not...the aren't insurance!?!?). Customer service only told me this plan pays for some of what my dental insurance doesn't..."like future dental care." So, as I understand it, if you do have dental insurance (employer paid, Medicare, etc.), they do NOT pay anything that isn't paid by your regular dental insurance. So, you have to send back your card to cancel the plan and get a refund for the unpaid years (in my case). Let's see how long THAT takes. Needless to say, I would not recommend this if you have any type of dental insurance."
