"I have been a patient at this office with Dr Zapata since 2007. When I began the program I was amazed at the knowledge this doctor possessed. He teaches so many awesome techniques to calm yourself and even meditation techniques that can make you smile and bring on the happy. I’ve learned to forgive myself and how to appropriately mend broken relationships. Which ones matter and those that don’t. He is one of the first suboxone doctors and his research and success rate of his patients speak for themself. He’s not going to push you to stop the medication unless that is something you want. There are many people that have over 10 years of success. Although we understand relapsing is part of addiction there are so many people I’ve watched who never relapsed once and a few that I watched relapse were able to get it back together and returned to the program I’ve been to other clinics and I must say this program is superb. As long as you follow a few rules which all have to do with integrity and respect then you will live this program ….if sobriety and wellness are your goals and you’re ready to put in the time and effort."
"I asked him about whether my condition could be caused by medical issue. He mocked me. Turned out that it was a severely low thyroid. He also told me that there wasn’t anything wrong with me that wasn’t wrong with most white women. Seriously. He said that. Horrible experience. Would NEVER recommend."
"I've been seeing Dr. Zapata for 4 months now and if my insurance would cover any other doctor, I'd have switched after the second visit. In 4 months, he has not yet once listened to any of my actual issues, his only goal seems to be pushing all negative emotions down via meditation. I was hoping to get treatment for ADHD and start processing some trauma. Getting my medication is a headache every single month because either the prescription is sent in incorrectly, or when I call ahead to have them send it in for me, they just don't. And don't even bother trying to call on a Friday with an urgent issue. They say they're open until 12 but they hang up the phones at 10-something and I just spent over an hour getting a busy signal over and over. I have no idea why they claim to be open until 12 because they're not. They don't call back like they say they will. My hour-long visits with the doctor where I'm supposed to receive support and counseling are actually just 30 minute visits where I'm told to meditate 2 or 3 new ways, look up some YouTube videos, and further suppress my trauma because "it's in the past and irrelevant." He doesn't answer simple questions, and he honestly just doesn't seem to actually care. He prescribed me a medication combination that nearly put me in the hospital, and when I called the office to ask him to review it, they said they would and never called back. I'm tired of being screwed over by this place and if it weren't for the fact that I need the medicine, I'd stop going in a heartbeat. If you're lucky enough to have any other option, please take it."
"I am giving this AMAZING Dr. All 5 stars and if I could give more I would. I drive an hour to see Dr. Z regularly. He is tough but caring and never will lie to you. He always brings me back when I need it. He sees me when I am in crisis and he has taught me how to take that long look at myself from above so I can heal and learn to love myself. I will never see anyone else and if you need someone to help you to become the absolute best you, Dr. Zapata is who you need to contact."
"This doctor may have some good cognitive behavioral strategies, but taking a patient cold turkey off any psychiatric medication is absolutely ridiculous and should be considered malpractice. My uncle could have died after Dr. Zapata took him off 3 medications, telling him to flush them, deep breathe & meditate. Do NOT trust yourself or your loved one w/this "Doctor". As a psychologist, I may not have a medical degree and don't advocate lots of medication, but certainly know that there are medical "best practices" for weaning off medication."
