Dr. Jonathan Greenberg, DMD 111 Smithtown Bypass, Hauppauge, NY 11788

"Stay away! I went to Dr. Greenberg for a consultation in order to get a periodontal maintenance (cleaning) and he told me that I needed gum surgery for a deep pocket that would cost $1400. I have been going to periodontists for cleanings every 3 months for the past 20 years and have never been told that I needed surgery. I declined and made an appointment for a cleaning. They charged me a "copayment" of $71 and billed the insurance company for "Root Planing, upper and lower," not for the usual periodontal maintenance that I received. My insurance company declined the claim saying I had no history of periodontal disease. I had one more cleaning with his dental hygienist. She did a decent cleaning but spent half the time I have been used to getting with other hygienists. After one year of not going to Dr. Greenberg, I received a bill for $184 for what my insurance did not pay. I called and spoke to billing and explained that I did not receive "Root Planing," it was routine Periodontal Maintenance and I was not going to pay. She said ok. Tried to rip me off with unnecessary surgery and tried to cheat my insurance company as well. Very disturbing!"
