"Dr. Kahmke implanted an Inspire sleep apnea device into my chest on 9/29/23. It's an involved surgery in that a lead wire has to be connected from the device to the appropriate nerve endings at the base of my tongue. It's normally a 2-3 hour surgery requiring two incisions, one in my chest and another in my neck. The surgery was flawless. In fact , the whole experience with Dr. Kahmke from first appointment to post-op was first class. He's very personable and a good listener, and his work speaks for itself. Highly recommended."
"Dr. Kahmke for an initial consult and evaluation I was impressed by his compassion, listening abilities, and professional demeanor. After evaluation and mutual discussion we created a treatment plan that met my needs. I highly recommend this doctor."
"Buyer beware! This is the most dishonest and dishonorable doctor I have ever met. Pay very close attention to your bill with this one. Initially, I thought he was a nice person. I was assigned to Dr. Kahmke via Duke's Referrals Department to complete a procedure. My husband took off from work the day of the procedure. I waited to be seen, was called back, and then Dr. Kahmke explained to me that Referrals had sent me to the wrong doctor and that he does not perform the procedure for which I was referred. As a matter of fact, he told me that this was a common error made by the Department. I was upset that we had wasted a day off from work but Dr. Kahmke assured me that he would schedule me for the correct doctor and that I would not be charged for the appointment. I confirmed this with the staff when I checked out. A month later I received a bill for several hundred dollars. When I called customer service to ask about the charges they said I would have to resolve this with the doctor himself. When I called his office and Patient Services I was told that Dr. Kahmke said he had given me a complete examination and then referred me for the procedure I was having next. This was a complete fabrication as my primary doctor had already examined me and referred me for the needed procedure. Fast forward fifteen months and I have now received another bill from this man that I only spent a few moments with. He now claims that he performed the procedure that I was sent to another doctor for. This bill is for over one thousand dollars. Unless you have money to burn and are not bothered by fabrications on your account, I would see someone else."
