"Dr. Thompson treated our son for a rare condition that we had never heard of. We were overwhelmed at the initial onset from the hospital, but we were referred for follow up hematology and consult with Dr. Thompson. From the initial appointment, Dr. Thompson put our family at ease and explained everything in great detail, but on a level we could grasp. He made us feel like he and our family were on a team to treat our son for this condition. The treatment will be long term and had some obstacles to face, but Dr. Thompson made us feel like this was a goal we could accomplish together. Dr. Thompson is very humble about his profession, and consulted with other colleagues to determine the best level of care. He's also witty and personable. From my perception of the hematology wing of the hospital and the patients there, some with cancer and rare blood disorders and varying ages of children, he is a light in some very dismal circumstances for children and their families. Should you find the need for a pediatric hematologist he would be our top pick every time."
