"Unfortunately, I am very unhappy with Long Island Dental Specialty on Southdown Road. I had severe pain and the dentist said he thought maybe it was a particular tooth that had to either be pulled or a root canal. I went to the oral surgeon (LI Dental Sp on Southdown rd) with the form from the dentist. I told them that my pain was under my chin. Like a pick axe we stabbing me. They took an entire set of ex rays. Then did a root canal on the tooth that the dentist had written down. Never really exploring anything else. Well, turns out that was NOT THE TOOTH. After the root canal I was still in SEVERE pain. Just crying and miserable. THEN and only then did he explore where the pain might be coming from. He found it and it was the last tooth on the bottom in the back. He said it was cracked and couldn’t be saved. So I left in pain and the next day went to another oral surgeon on NY ave. Highly recommend them (North Shore implant and Oral Surgery). That doctor told me there is no way that it even could have been that upper tooth since the pain was under my chin. He said it was 100% impossible. Then he took another set of x-rays as I sat and cried in the chair after spending almost $2,000 on a root canal that I never needed. He determined that it was in fact the lower back tooth and he pulled it. ALL PAIN INSTANTLY GONE! Thank goodness! That cost was $550. I sent a very nice email to the first oral surgeon thanking them for taking me in right away but then explaining the rest asking for my money back. I received a call from the office manager right away. I was told that they worked on the tooth that the dentist had written down. I explained that I stated that I wasn't sure that was the tooth and that it hurt very bad under my chin. If they had listened to me at all and knew what they were doing they would have said no way it could have been a top tooth. I was told that no way I would get my money back as she argued with me over the phone. Credit card company won't dispute it because when its a service and the service was performed there is nothing they can do. I then called my lawyer who said that I would need to pay an expert witness that would cost me $7,500.I will take them to small claims court but without an expert, I probably won't have a case. I am out almost 2 grand. I would highly recommend that you do not use this practice."

"I have been going to see Dr. Marcus and his group for almost a year now. He and his staff have been great, especially when an unforeseen issue arrives. They treat you quickly, and make themselves available to you for any issues. I would highly recommend them should you need a Periodontist. He and his staff are courteous, and very friendly even when it is a weekend and you must speak to them."
