Reviews of Oak Steakhouse
"What a great experience! Beautifully-crafted cocktails (smoked old-fashioned for the win), amazing appetizers (try the bone marrow!), steaks you'll never forget, and unique desserts paired with house-made ice creams. Pair all this with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and friendly, attentive staff, and you have all the makings of a memorable evening. Highly recommended!"
"My first time in here and I ate at the bar. Nice steakhouse atmosphere and good service. I ordered the Old Fashioned flight. It’s gimmicky and overpriced for what is essentially the volume of one old fashioned spread across three glasses but it was nice to taste test three different styles of old fashioned at the same time in a state where you can only legally buy one full size drink at a time. For dinner I ordered the spinach and squash salad and added the 5 oz fillet. I’m not likely to buy the old fashioned flight again at that price but I’d come back tomorrow for this steak and salad paring. Salad was interesting. Different, with mixed textures and flavors. Lightly and perfectly dressed. And the fillet, medium rare, exceptional. Great sear with pepper, a heavy hand of finishing salt, and butter. I had a glass of Oregon Pinot Noir with the steak and salad that was very nice and reasonably priced by the glass. Look this place is steakhouse spendy but it’s also steakhouse good. I’m a fan and I’ll be back."
"First time visiting this place, a big variety of steaks, but also some other vegetarian friendly options. I ordered risotto and some shareable dishes and they were all really tasty. It is appreciated that there are round tables for group dinners. Air conditioning was a bit strong and we ended up a bit cold, but the overall atmosphere was great."
"The atmosphere and service is really good. The computers went down during our meal so it was really slow getting our meal. Our server was really good at explaining the dishes. The wine we got was excellent. The food was just ok. I ordered a 100 dollar bone in filet and it was cold. Maybe it was sitting in the window for a long period of time? I don't know but it was cold. My friends ordered the raviolo and it was just kinda odd. I think how they prepared it was weird. They should have put the nice piece of short rib on top of the large raviolo but instead it was mixed in. The quail was good and I liked the gnocchi. I think my favorite dishes were the grilled octopus and the bread. We had 4 of the sides and I think the best was the Brussel sprouts. I really think they could have made the food more flavorful for the price. All the dishes had good presentation but the majority of it was kinda boring and one note. All in all I think the experience was good but find the food to be lacking for the price. The prices are on par with STK of las vegas so I find it kinda high for a raleigh restaurant. My meal for 2 was $306 before tip which I have no problem paying as long as it is good food. It was just kinda basic and lackluster. The staff is what saved the experience."
"Such an amazing experience trying out this restaurant for the first time while in town. High level of professionalism from the minute we walked in, seated, and leaving the place. Our waiter Paul was Exceptional! Very knowledgeable of the menu and was willing to make recommendations. Glad to have celebrated my birthday there! Highly recommends the Hanger steak, Scallops, Lamb Chops, Devils eggs, Crusted oysters, and Caroline Coconut drink. We will certainly come by next time we’re in town."
