Douglas Thompson, MD

Douglas Thompson, MD is a board-certified Hematology and Oncology specialist located at 50 Hospital Drive in Hendersonville, North Carolina. As the Medical Director for Hematology and Oncology at AdventHealth Hendersonville, Dr. Thompson is dedicated to providing compassionate and patient-centered care. He leads the Cancer Services program at four locations in Western North Carolina and is currently accepting new patients at AdventHealth Hematology Oncology Infusion Services Hendersonville.

Dr. Thompson received his medical education from Wake Forest University and the Medical College of Georgia, and completed his residency at Emory University and Fellowship at Brody School of Medicine East Carolina University. His passion for helping cancer patients led him to specialize in Hematology and Oncology, where he approaches each patient with compassion and honesty.

Outside of patient care, Dr. Thompson is an avid runner who has completed marathons in all 50 states, on all seven continents, and even at the North Pole. He combines his love for running with travel adventures, including running across the Atacama Desert of Chile and the jungle island of Dominica.
