"I absolutely adore my visits with Ralph! I have been coming here for almost 8 years i believe and he’s been nothing but helpful. He’s an asset to the team at McCombs. I would highly recommend making your appointment with him. I always feel so much better when i leave the office, thank you Ralph, you’re truly a kindred spirit and i enjoy every one of our sessions."
"If I could give this agency ZERO stars I would do so. I made a much needed appointment 3 months ago. Since making the appointment several attempts were made to obtain an earlier appointment and none were available. Unfortunately I received a call m the day before my appointment to be notified that the guidance consultant would not be able to see us tomorrow as our benefits were no longer being accepted. Not only did I complete all documents but I spoke with someone from the agency who confirmed my appointment as well as confirmed receipt of my documents. This is not only unprofessional but highlights that mental health is not a priority for this agency. An alternate selection could have been made months ago had this information been provided. I do not recommend this agency as they apparently have a problem with basic communication I can only guess how communication would be handled once in a session!"
"Overall bad experience. Weight was commented on even though body image was the main reason I was there... A therapist shouldn't comment on their patient's weight or physical appearance if they aren't in a alarming state, especially if it could make them uncomfortable... She also commented on my insecurities saying "that's just the way it is" and proceeded to smile. I wasn't comfortable enough to open up about my trauma due to being made so uncomfortable, she kept looking at the clock as if she didn't care."
"Unfortunately for my daughter I'm a disabled veteran. I was looking for an experienced counselor that would accept my insurance through the v.a. On the website Beth Ariigo shows that she accepts Champs V.A. insurance and shows she has many years of experience with teens. I thought I had lucked out. My daughter had tried to kill herself about a yr ago. We had our first appointment and talked with my daughter and I. She seemed good. I gave her info going back years. Filled out forms allowing her to get my daughter's history. First off let me say they don't take that insurance or don't know how to send it in so had to pay out of pocket 140 a pop. Fine, as long as my daughter is getting help. Then my daughter starts telling me I'm wasting my money. Beth ariigo isn't asking her anything about the past or being very helpful. We were doing the video appointments. I'm thinking my daughter doesn't want to go. My daughter says listen in on the next appointment. I know this sounds crazy but I do, I sit outside the room and listen. This is the sixth appointment I believe. Beth Arrigo asks about her favorite drink, games they both play, pets. She asks my daughter why I have her in therapy. Beth should know this, I told her and she has access to my daughter's history. She did no background, no plan for help. I'm throwing 140 an hour away for conversation on video games. Pathetic. Another thing you should know. They will make appointments without speaking to the parent and once they have a card on file you have used, you will be billed. Whether you know about the appointment or not. Who does that. Stay away!!!! Take your child to someone that actually cares and just not using you for a pay day!!!"
"McCombs counseling hosts the most action-oriented therapy I have yet encountered, with each session generally concluding on the note of "what can I do to improve my state of mind?" I should also be careful to state that these are not the forced prescription of actions but rather things that we cooperatively agree would be the most effective steps to take. In shorter terms, you are not being TOLD what to do, but you are coming to that conclusion on your own with the help of your counselor. This is an exceedingly important quality because it is easy to disregard advice given to you from an uninformed, third party. However, if you are guided into making these decisions yourself, it is much easier! That being said, counseling here is not limited in regard to critical analysis, and you should be prepared --- as with any counselor --- to hear this. Your problems will be acknowledged as such. They will not be given justification for the sake of good feelings; just as not every medical procedure is necessarily pleasant, counseling here is not (and should not be) pleasant for the sake of being pleasant. Rather, it is necessary. In fewer words, I recommend McCombs counseling for people who are aware that they need improvement, but are unaware of how to achieve it."
