"They told me they took my insurance, emailed all my info. 2 days before my appointment they called and said they Did Not take my insurance."
"Although the psychiatric practices are sound... their patient respect and all around care are non-existent. Be careful because this "medical practice" is named appropriately. Anyone wanting to progress their mental health should be wary. Beginning positive mental health progression in "A place to start" is equivalent to starting the race of your life inside of a house on fire that somehow can laugh at you. In the unfortunate event you find this starting line make sure to exit quickly with a strategy to further your progression in a better environment or prepare for engagement. Anyone willing to deal with the disrespect and unprofessional-ism of this establishment as a long term engagement truly does not care about their own well-being. A place to start is not a place to get complacent or stay it is just as its name alludes, it is a business just to get you started... then leave you scared and worried about where to go next. A competent and empathetic staff is apparently too much to ask for in a business that deals with people undergoing what could be the biggest transition in their life from unhealthy to finally being healthy. Ignorance of proper handling procedures in situations with mentally unwell patients is inexcusable, unjustifiable and to be honest disgusting behavior. No reply necessary. Id rather fight my battle alone than experience anything with "a place to start." Glad to have moved on from the start line."
"All the office manager cares about is Money. Which is very unprofessional considering this is mental health office. I was charged $50 for being 14 minutes late. Even tho the front office person told me I had 15 minutes to be late. This is my SECOND appointment ever with them to follow up on how a new medication is working for me. The office rescheduled my original second appointment and booked me for 55 days later. So I thought they would be helpful and wave that $50 fee. Front desk women told me the office manager would contact me and that never happened. I am now extremely anxious because I haven’t talked to my psychiatrist since starting my medication, and I can’t even leave this inconsiderate office because it might takes months to find a new place, And i am already on medication that should be slowly reduced if I were to stop taking it. This place preys on mentally unstable people."
"After being dropped by my last facility for a reason I don't understand, I came to A Place To Start. From the moment I walked into the office I felt welcome. I was assigned to Savannah, and I explained to her my concerns and fears. We also discussed some things that were troubling me, that I had mentioned to previous doctors at different locations that did nothing to help me. Savannah worked with me, adjusted my medications, and helped me with some of the problems I was having. A Place To Start has changed my life. They care. They listen. They help you, and don't brush your concerns off. Thank you!"
"This place should be called “A place not to start” unless you are trying to feel belittled and worse about yourself anytime you walk in there. Today was the second time Ive walked out cause of how uncomfortable I felt. Today, not even being seen yet, already paid, and overhearing something in the waiting room that made me so uncomfortable i’d rather forfeit the copay and just leave. And Last week, during a session with someone, feeling so belittled and made out to be worthless, I left mid session. As a male who struggled for so long to give therapy a shot, sure as hell picked the wrong place to start. I’m not looking forward to trying new places out after the horrible experience here, but i’d much rather try to find somewhere else then continue here anymore. I never leave bad reviews anywhere, but refuse to let someone else feel the way i did here with out any warning…."
