Reviews of Dogability Dog Training
"I'm so grateful I found Juan and Dogability Dog Training. I have a very energetic golden retriever puppy and the transformation he's undergone after 5 weeks with Juan is really remarkable. He's very responsive to commands, has 100% recall, and now has a discipline that makes both my life and his much easier and enjoyable. Taking him for a walk is no longer physically or mentally exhausting, he no longer demands all of my attention during the work day, and he no longer exhibits problematic behavior like jumping and nipping. The off-leash training has provided a freedom to Charlie that he didn't have before, which has made him a much happier, confident, and content dog. Our relationship has grown much stronger as a result. Most importantly, I learned the skills from Juan to reinforce his training to ensure Charlie retains the skills he's developed. I feel very fortunate that we have somebody right here in Durham who is as thoughtful and dedicated to dog training as Juan is. I couldn't recommend him more highly."
"Our two dogs (8 and 3 yrs old) recently completed the board and train program with Dogability. Juan took excellent care of them, shared updates along the way, and really helped us understand our dogs’ behavior. They’re totally transformed, and we feel like we are educated to be able to continue their training. They didn’t learn fancy tricks - they learned how to be companions. They know the important commands really well: place, stay, here, loose leash walking and off leash manners. I think the Dogability program is very unique and successful compared to other board & train programs I researched. We are very grateful our dogs got to work with Juan!"
"We have been believers in Juan and his dog handling technique for nearly 10 years. He has worked with 4 of our dogs, all of very different temperaments. Dogability’s philosophy has given confidence to our dogs and us. I cannot recommend Dogability highly enough. Our family is so grateful!"
"Juan and Eric transformed our relationship with our puppy in four weeks. We had adopted a shelter puppy who was happy to comply with any request for a handful of treats. However, even with hours of trainer support , we could not get him to stop jumping or biting. Since we care for our grand baby during the week, we needed to stop this behavior or return him to the shelter. Dogability taught us and him how to quickly correct unwanted behavior. Marco is a happy puppy and we are happy pet parents. Thank you Juan and Eric."
"My 2 year old Dutch Shepherd completed the 6 week board and train program with Dogability Dog Training last summer, graduating in August 2019. Now, more than 6 months later I can truly still say that this is the best investment that I ever made for me and my pup. Prior to the training my dog was extremely people aggressive, he would lunge and bark at every person he saw. It was to the point where we could no longer go in public and we couldn't even go on walks for fear that we would come across other people. Dutch Shepherds are a high energy breed and they are ready to learn. My dog can learn behavior commands and tricks easily. However, it didn't matter how much I tried, I was unable to teach my dog to stop barking and lunging at strangers. I was also unable to teach my dog a formal heel, pulling on leash was also a big impediment to taking walks, or to stop torturing my cat. Now, I can take my dog wherever I want, whenever I want. We can go for on or off leash hikes, walk the neighborhood or the greenway and we can even go for off lease walks around others, if we want. We've been to breweries, visited multiple friends around town, drove to Florida together and lived there for a few weeks last year, visit my family in western NC as much as we want, take frequent hikes at Umstead Park and Eno River, walk everyday, and even go for runs on the American Tobacco Trail. More than just learning new walks and not barking at strangers, my dog understands that I am in charge and that he has to listen to my demands. I can tell that my dog trusts me more and instead of jumping to fear, barking and lunging, he now defers to me and looks to me for approval in situations where he would have never done so before. Introducing my dog to new people is no longer a stressful occasion and instead, is a moment when his training allows me to control his interactions with others. I feel like I finally have my life back and that instead of being a burden in my life, my dog is a positive source of joy. Beyond the obedience, one of the biggest rewards from his training has been the strengthening of our bond. Its as if we can finally communicate with one another and that shared understanding has made us closer than ever before. My dog is not only more obedient, he is also more affectionate and loving. He came back to sleeping in the bed with me every night, something he refused to do before the training. As cheesy as it sounds, I finally feel like I truly understand why dogs are called "mans best friend." Thank you Dogability Dog Training for changing our lives forever--we will be forever grateful."
