Reviews of Signal after bar & lounge
"Love this spot for a casual date with my hub. To be honest, my fav is the toast and cream that they offer for every table. The food can be very heavy but the quality and flavor is on point. Also love their atmosphere and decor."
"It’s almost close - for lunch break - when I was there, so it’s understandable, but felt it’s so empty. Foods were so good, but they need to use different type of sauces for dumplings and fried tofu. Those taste the same except the texture."
"Food: I like that Signal has asian and western fusion cuisines that you can order depending on what you feel like eating. Tried the spicy bulgogi pasta and veggie soon tofu. We were also given complimentary toast with whipped cream which was phenomenal. Service: I did not see the servers much though, but it might be because I didn’t go during a busy time. The interior of the restaurant is very clean. The food came out pretty quick. I would go again with friends for brunch."
"Came here a year ago and wanted it again for a while. Came back and it was completely different. I got the chive pork jaw pasta and it was COVERED in oil to the point I was scooping oil out of my plate every 30 seconds (how do you drown pasta to the point of being soup noodles?). It was so bad that 3 napkins were soaked in oil, the lard curdled, and I was able to fill the smaller plate with just oil and lard itself. The pork jaw was good, but it just had TOO much excess oil and it might as well have been strained before serving. My boyfriend got the spicy baby octopus stone bowl rice and the rice was SOGGY. I don’t know how a HOT STONE bowl rice can be soggy, but they managed to make it so. The toast plate was the highlight and that is complimentary. The crispy tofu is okay, only if you eat it straightaway. If you let it sit for too long, it will get soggy and the tofu inside is very bland. We also got the strawberry ade and the fruit punch, it was a packaged syrup. The fruit punch tasted like cough syrup and the strawberry ade was too sugary and processed. Not what I got a year ago. They definitely cheapened out on their ingredients since they opened. Besides the food, they suddenly turned up the music even though there were only 2-3 tables in the restaurant and I was unable to hold a conversation with my boyfriend sitting across from me. It was unnecessary as their bar was not yet opened and the restaurant was not full. It was giving a nightclub atmosphere at 6:30pm and it wasn’t full enough to match that energy."
"New “hip” spot in Flushing, probably better for IG than for the food itself. Some reviews mention horrible service, but there actually was no issue with service, other than the water not being filled up for a while after ordering. Waiter was very kind. The food was too sweet to my liking. The spicy cream bulgogi pasta was especially too sweet. The rose tteokbokki was a bit spicier than I had expected, but was pretty good. It wasn’t the type of “rose” that most people imagine it to be, and I was disappointed at the sausage in the dish — it’s not the Berkshire sausage that goes well with spicy rice cake, but rather the cheap tasting ones that most people do not enjoy. The fried tofu was the best choice, as I appreciated the tteokkochi-resembling sauce. Refreshments were also good, but I could not really tell a big difference between the flavors of the strawberry lemonade and the blueberry ade. Overall, worth a visit or two for a well-decorated, Insta-worthy Korean fusion restaurant. Atmosphere is more for a date or a girls’ outing due to the interior design."
