Smoky Mountain Community Theatre
About the Business
The Smoky Mountain Community Theatre, located at 134 Main Street in Bryson City, North Carolina, is a beloved institution that has been a part of the town's history since 1950. Originally known as the Gem Theatre, it was purchased by the SMCT in 1996 and has been a hub for local entertainment ever since. The building is in need of repairs and renovations, especially after the financial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The SMCT plays a vital role in the community, drawing in both locals and tourists with its high-quality performances. Grants are needed to help restore this iconic building and ensure that live performances can once again be enjoyed by all. Your support for the Smoky Mountain Community Theatre is greatly appreciated, as it plays a crucial role in showcasing local talent and bringing the community together through the arts.

"This organization is awesome! Great for all ages. They also give back to their community. Just recently, they donated watermelons to The Giving Spoon in Bryson City. Support the community theatre!"
"Very quaint place, great staff and great acoustics. Air had to be turned off before play due to sound of ac drowning out actors voices. With air off the acoustics were so good that the actors did not have mics on."
"Great community theater in a historical cinema building (built about 1950). Very passionate and talented people on and off stage. The concessions are delicious, homemade and cheap."
