Hermitage at Beechtree Clock Tower

"I moved into Hermitage at Beechtree in 2017 & am still here. The office staff, Tina & Emily are the best! Very responsive to needs of tenants, as is the maintenance staff. Complex is quiet & grounds are kept clean for the most part. Buildings are older but were recently given a new & fresh coat of paint. I have not experienced any bug problems in my apartment other than the occasional water bugs that somehow creep in now & then. Pest control is part of the fees if needed though. I don’t drive so I like that there is a bus stop right out in front of the complex. The pool area is well-kept & the workout area is small but functional. Equipment was recently updated. I don’t own a pet but there is a small dog park on premises. Cable is included in the rent (not optional) & other fees. Expect to pay at least $100 more in addition to your rent after fees. Overall, I would recommend Hermitage at Beechtree!"

"The good: - Pretty polite neighbors (not noisey, etc) on most occassions - Good pool, kept clean - Good staff, responsible and on top of things - Functional and clean apartment - Awesome trail right by the apartment but be warned there is a sewer system that runs along part of it. It can smell bad on some sections some days, but u can run by it fast on a jog and hold your nose. Beautiful during winter. - Good location, lots of nearby cary stuff, and cary is a great town. The bad: - MAA - Extra fees. Expect to pay at least $50 more each month for "MAA Connect" which provides you base cable package and wifi clubhouse access (??). You cannot opt out and these agreements are illegal in some states, but not NC. - The apartment was decent but over time you will notice certain things that were the result of poor attention to detail when it was turned over (i.e doors sticking, drawers fall out, bad paint job around outlets, etc), but these weren't a huge annoyance for me, except for the drawer one. They probably would have fixed this if I asked enough but I just dealt with it. Also, the door issues were resolved once all the paint had been chipped away. I'm guessing each time they turn it over they repaint these instead of fixing the door fittings. In summary, it's a good place to live that was fairly cheap when I signed. It wasn't worth the things above when it was renewal time so I moved out."

"This is probably the best apartment complex we've been at in Cary so far. Tina and Emily are wonderful and very prompt with any concerns we may have (which we've had one in the 8-9 months we've been here, and it was taken care of same day) Maintenance is prompt and the guys are also courteous when they're around the complex. The grounds are kept clean by the staff as well. For people saying hidden fees every fee mentioned was told to us up front before we even put a deposit down for an apartment, so we knew about those beforehand. I really couldn't say enough good things about this place. It's a great place to live without having to pay an arm and a leg to be so close to the Greenway and other attractions in Cary."

"What a NITGHTMARE! NEVER TRUST THEM!!! All verbal promises come to be broken in the end. I rented an apartment for a quarter there because the location was good for me to commute to work. I noticed that I need to pay various hidden fees before I decided to rent this apartment. Actually the hidden fees were OK, because I could notice them and I expected to pay them. There is a strange clause that the lease will be automatically extended, although I have clearly identified the date of expiry. I talked to one agent about the date I would like to end my lease, she said OK so my lease would not be extended. In the end, when I was back to school, I received a big bill where another agent extended my lease. I asked the previous agent, she said she had left the company. I asked the new agent, and she just repeated the clause again and again and made no further explanation. Another issue is the cleaning. Before I left the apartment, I spent the whole weekend in cleaning the apartment. I expected there should be no extra charge except the carpet. In the end, I was charged a big amount of money. I have rented five different apartments and I never be charged because of the cleaning before. They even charged me unlisted items. When I asked them, they just replied that the invoice amounts were what they were billed, and did not give any explanation. They were ridiculously expansive. In all, I lived there three months, and I paid 35% more than what I originally expected to pay in the end, simply because I used to trust them. Now I still could NOT believe that such a company can exist."
