"Love my wide 1 bedroom apartment. It has so much light and space (many closets too). The kitchen is a real one, and not the typical one that we find in small units. The maintenance guy is the best and fixes everything so quickly. It is rustic but so cosy and special (not the usual square rooms). Love the quietness and to be surrounded by woods (with a huge fenced balcony, 2nd floor only). I feel connected to nature and neighbors are really respectful. The location is just the best, 3mn from the Crabtree mall, 14mn from the airport, 2mn from Glenwood avenue…Celia (the manager) is also the best and nicest manager ever. Outdoor maintenance and landscape clearly need some investment though."
"Lived there for 3yrs. Eric, in maintenance, shook our windows by blasting loud music from his jeep and encouraged others to show off their systems too. He acted like he wanted to fight me for asking for a brighter light bulb on the vaulted ceiling fan. Maintenance made several trips, making bad guesses and cheap shortcuts to fix things. Our washer and dryer in our "updated unit" was loud, old, rusty, and Frankenstein pieced together from other appliances. Standing water flooding in the walkway and not draining properly resulted in fruit flies and mosquitos constantly getting in the apartment. Paint was peeling with 90s wallpaper behind failing to hold anymore. Roaches came out the drains and spiders down the chimney. The exterminator was useless with a small can of spray, and we had to set traps. I could smell the neighbors Curry and Fish cooking; they left trash at their front door that got wet and sour trash odors wafted into our livingroom for days. Could hear the upstairs neighbors phone conversations on both ends, what they watched on tv, when they took a pee, and everything else. Mold on window seals. Mice hanging out in the yard. Dumpsters constantly overflowing(too few for the amount of residents). Pool was worn out by age and had thick green/black algae in the skimmer. Car vacuum broken stole my money. The soda machine had expired drinks. Even the parking spots were painted so badly in many areas that it was impossible not to interfere with the next person's spot no matter how straight you parked. Location was great, but everything else made the price of rent insanely questionable. I reported a large branch barely hanging from a tree in sight of the office that could damage a car; the branch was still there 8 months later until we moved. Leaving for work, I waved at another staffer(heavy set) in a golf cart, and she gave me a sour unwelcome look and ignored me. Ginger was the best on staff overall to speak with. 2.5 stars"
"I've lived at the Quinn for 2 years now, in the renovated version of the smaller 1bd /1bth floor plan, my lease ending this month. This was my first apartment and I truthfully am giving it 3.5 stars. I'll start with the pros: I was young with bad credit - poor rental history (broken leases, no evictions) and I worked in the service industry so proving income was difficult. Celia - who is now the property manager- was so wonderful in helping me get into my apartment. She allowed my restaurant to write a certified letter reporting my average income, she accepted my application (which has been rejected at other places) and allowed me to rent with a larger deposit, and even with the larger deposit, she worked with me in getting that paid. Amenities are pretty decent, they have a fenced in dog - park, but i have no pets so not used by me. my favorite is the car washing station (which definitely gets a ton of use) The renovated apartment is much nicer than the regular. the appliances were great, floor and carpet were also really nice. LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION. this complex is in the perfect spot. so close to everything, and you can get to anywhere in Raleigh so easily being right off the beltline - and being further off Glenwood it's a very petty neighborhood with lots of trees and not too noisy. Now the con's: - they charge an outrages trash fee FOR NO TRASH SERVICE. newer complexes charge a trash service fee because they have people coming to pick up trash from units everyday. THERE IS NO TRASH SERVICE - you pay to take your own trash to the dumpster. - THE FEEES. oh my god. for such an old complex with such basic amenities they charge about $57 a month in extra fees a month on top of rent. they make you pay $15 for "package delivery service" that i quite literally never made an account for or used. the service was stupid, rather than having it sent to your porch it is sent to a shipment center where you then have to get it from them?? totally defeats the purpose of ordering things to your house. It is not a locker box - or anything on site. i never used it and always got my packages to my door. - More issues with trash dumpster- constantly over flowing - residents leaving trash all around the ground - racoons - never compacted properly. - I had several things not replaced even with a "renovated" unit. Washer Dryer unit had to be at least 15-20 years old. Stackable and the smallest load size I've ever seen. couldn't wash a comforter in it. My sliding glass window/door to my porch had an awful case of glass cancer which looks awful. deck and steps to all buildings need to be replaced IMMEDIATELY. a step literally broke on my budling and they didn't even replace it they just screwed it back in with an extra 2 inches of wood support underneath. -Total lack of security - car break-in's. not even like random - someone came with a master fob and was unlocking cars without damage, they hit me and my boyfriend and all of my neighbors. if you had remote unlock they could get in. - one big issue I had both summers was the pool was opened extremely late. summer 2022 it opened mid June. this summer (2023) it did not open until the weekend of July 4th. they blame it on inspections taking a while, but truthfully - they kept failing the inspections :) plus the pool is small - they had way more outdoor seating last year - they had couches and tall and low tables and umbrellas. now there are only like 6 lounge chairs and one umbrella. not sure what happened to them. - quality of neighbors. This is not against anyone with families at all but there are a couple groups of teens that like to hangout around the basketball court, and pool, and BLAST music and smoke weed. I have no issue with kids hanging outside , or even music but it can get excessive sometimes, leaving roaches on the ground and lingering marijuana smells."
"New paint won’t change the damage underneath. I lived here 3 years. Leaking ceiling (leaked 3/4 times and in the middle of the night), dead tree falling on porch and not getting fixed for 2+ weeks, dead porch wood and people stepping through, no notice of people fixing outside and men peering through windows, contractors damaging my outside furniture and not even an apology. This is just on the top of my head. 3 stars for the maintenance men! They both knew me by name (probably cause all the problems my place had) and I could call with an emergency and they would always come promptly with help. They were always so helpful!"
"I lived here from Jan - Jun 2021. They were very flexible and offered me a six month lease at the same pricing as a a 12 month lease. They are under new management so I'm not sure if they're doing that anymore but I really appreciated it! I loved the rate I got and I loved the apartment. It was super conveniently located and even though the apartment I lived in was not upgraded, it was perfect for me and my partner. It was a very laid back complex, and I felt very safe. The neighbors were wonderful, management was super helpful, and maintenance was the best. Eric the maintenance tech was always very helpful. He once helped me fix a coolant leak that sprung on my car. If an issue happened, it was taken care of relatively fast. The apartments themselves were old but it was part of their charm. I loved the high ceilings in my apartment and working fireplace. Ownership of the complex was sold pretty regularly and they tended to enact some rules that were hard to keep track of but Ginger in the office helped us out and we didn't have any worries. I would recommend Ravenglass place for anyone looking for a safe place by Crabtree."
