"Retreat on Lake Lynn has been very professional and courteous. It is quiet here and they really take care of the property and add nice landscaping as well. Beautiful outdoor areas. Maintenance fixes what you ask them to in a reasonable time. I have never had any problems. It's a very nice place to live. Fun events too!"

"My fiancé and I have lived here for about 6 months. We live in a one bedroom fully renovated floor plan. The floor plan is great and we have tons of space and storage. The upgrades themselves are nice (appliances, flooring, paint color, bathroom) but sloppy in some places. For example, when the renovation company painted the bathroom cabinets, they painted the countertop corner so it looks dirty. The paint in the corners is sloppy which makes it hard to clean baseboards or corners easily. The windows are old and do not keep heat or cool air in. Our bedroom is about 5-10 degrees hotter than the living room. I believe this is a common trend throughout the complex considering many people have AC units in their bedroom windows. When we first moved in our balcony door did not lock. It took them about a month to fix this, after us throwing a fit (we live on the ground floor so this is an issue). The property itself is not that great. When I toured it was really great but living here presents its challenges. The trash compactor seems to always be broken so trash piles up for days. This is disgusting and it smells so bad. We live in a building near it so it does effect us. We also live next to recycling which now does not seem to be too bad because a second bin has been purchased but when we moved in it was rough. The property itself would have trash everywhere. I finally contacted management because I was fed up. They apologized and have seemed to be working on property upkeep in the recent months. As a dog owner we walk the property frequently so we do see A LOT of trash around the grounds. Mostly construction materials, paint, plastic bags, etc. Pest control is not so great. We have been seeing a lot of bugs recently (which is expected as it gets colder) but it is BAD! I have never lived in a place where bugs seem to be swarming into the apartment. Pest control comes on Wednesdays but are not very helpful. We have thought about contacting someone ourselves but truly don’t want to pay for pest control when we already pay for it in our rent. Living in this area is nice as you have access to the lake and there is great access to different locations in Raleigh. You can pretty much get anywhere in Raleigh within 30 minutes. Overall it’s okay. The new club house and outdoor rec area are very nice! The staff and maintenance are friendly and always helpful. I truly just wish the property itself, trash and pest control matched the “luxury” name that we are paying for."

"Let me start out by saying that the maintenance team is fantastic! They are quick to resolve any issues we had and were very friendly. Having a new washer and dryer come with the unit was also a great addition. Also, the location and proximity to the lake is wonderful and it made exercise and nature viewing a great experience That’s unfortunately where the good points end. Don’t be deceived by the fancy model apartment they show you! Everything in the model room is beautiful and updated, from the appliances to the countertops. This was NOT the case with our unit. The cabinets were horrendous and I’m almost certain they were installed back when the place was built in the 80s. Ugly, worn-away brown color, some of it looked like it was rotting. Sadly the team said they were updating their units but I suppose they never got to ours. The counters stained so easily because it was made of that cheap plastic stuff, not sure what it’s called. We also got a unit that used to be handicap so all of our cabinets were cut off at the bottom, which meant a lot less space. This made it difficult to store all our belongings. And ohhh my gosh if you do not like smoking then you better hope your neighbor does not smoke. The smell that would seep into apartment from our neighbors’ cigarettes was so horrible. I had a hard time living there because of it: I had to light candles all the time when I was home. I asked the office about this and they said that residents are allowed to smoke in their units but that they would send someone over to walk around the building to check the smell. Walking around the outside does not indicate if a unit smells, you literally have to be inside when they’re smoking to notice. Unfortunately for us our neighbors were heavy smokers. They also have roaches, those palmetto ones. We found a handful inside so it wasn’t infested but you do see them. A lot of them lived on the porch and in the outdoor closet so be cautious.. they will run out when you walk onto the porch."
