Reviews of Campus Walk Apartment Complex
"I have lived at Campus Walk for many years and at the sister complex Poplar West across the street for many years prior (been with Trinity properties since 2015). As with any place, there are pros and cons. Pros: 1. The staff is the kindest of anywhere that I have ever stayed. They have gone out of their way to help me before. A diverse range of tenants live here of all backgrounds and identities (I am transgender), and I have always seen them be nothing but wonderful to everyone. Susan and Amy are some of the nicest people from whom you will ever rent. 2. Fast maintenance. The fastest of anywhere that I have ever lived. I will never see the like again. 3. Incredibly reasonable prices right next to Duke’s campus. You can easily walk or bike to work or school. There are also multiple bus stops. 4. My apartment has hardwood flooring, dishwasher, and washer dryer included! There’s also a massive Master bedroom in the 2 bedroom units. I can fit a King Size bed, sofa, and TV station all in that one room! 5. They are good about pest control here. I rarely see bugs. Cons: 1. Older apartments. My bathroom ceiling has leaked twice, and sewage came up out of the bathroom sink once. But you get what you pay for. Maintenance tries really hard to keep things running for you. 2. Increased crime in the area. Inflation has hit everyone hard, and I figure that people from some of the poorer neighborhoods 5 minutes away think that since it’s primarily Duke students and employees staying here, they can shake a little dough out of us. It’s unfortunate. However, I noticed that the apartment complex put up fencing, placed extra mirrors in the halls, took down bushes where folks hid, and had a security officer patrolling for a while (maybe still). Lower apartments also have alarm systems. This was hard on me because this place used to be so safe. I dearly love evening walks and had to stop. But the complex is doing its best to keep us safe. They can’t change what is happening in Durham right now. Conclusions: It’s honestly really sad to leave this place. I loved it here. Thank you for providing a home for over 7 years, Trinity Properties. You all are wonderful people."
"Campus Walk is great place to live for the price you pay. The apartment was nice and clean when we moved-in and the administration of Campus Walk is the nicest and the most helpful I have ever encountered. They were always willing to help us out and very quick to respond to all of our requests. A lot of people comment that the place is not safe, but I think it is unfair to attribute this to the complex or its administration because all of Durham is not safe and the administration really does what it can to make the complex safer. The location is also very good because it is 30 minutes walk to central part of West Campus and there are restaurants in walking distance. I found the location to be the most convenient for a non-driving student. Highly recommend."
"I've called Campus Walk home for 5 months now. Best price per square foot in Durham that I found. Hardwood floors throughout, with tile in kitchen and doorway. While the counter space in the kitchen lacking (I suggest a counter height table if you like to cook and want more counter space), there is plenty of storage. I work from home, and the den is ideal for my office/library. A sliding glass door leads to a cute little patio with a brick wall - great for a Zoom background. My apartment overlooks green space so there is a sense of privacy, and there is a fenced in area for my doggo to romp. Durham is the biggest city I've ever lived in, and taking a look at the Durham crime map was...intense. When I decided to move to Campus Walk it was very clear, and I fully understood, that beyond contracted security there were not extra security measures in place. I reasoned that the savings outweighed the extra cost of living somewhere with such offerings. I am delighted to report that in response to the recent heightened criminal activity in the area, which has complex underpinnings, Trinity Properties has demonstrated transparency and taken action. They are already in conversation with contractors for fencing and exterior cameras. Furthermore, they are incredibly empathetic, supportive, and responsive to my questions and concerns whenever I reach out."
"Campus Walk apartments are reasonably priced housing accommodations perfect for people going to school at or working for Duke. A Duke bus line passes right next to the complex. Trinity Properties (the managers) are very helpful, providing prompt repairs e.g. they repaired my a/c when it went out this past summer in less than a day on the weekend. Though there are rising security concerns throughout Durham (as indicated by some other negative reviews on this site) I disagree with the accusation that Trinity is doing nothing. They have steadily increased security practices and technology including more lighting, trimming trees and bushes to increased viability, hiring and increasing the presence of a security team, coordinating with Durham and Duke police for more frequent patrols (which I have seen even during the day), and are now working on more security cameras and fencing to restrict access points. I believe Trinity is working hard to meet these needs which arise."
"My husband and I have lived at Campus Walk for 4 years and have loved living here. From the office staff to the maintenance team, everyone is so kind and respectful. Any time we’ve had even a small maintenance request, Chris and his team get to it right away and fix the issue. It is a quiet, safe neighborhood and we have loved going for walks with our daughter and meeting our neighbors here. The interior of the apartment is much nicer than many of the over priced apartments in the area (hardwoods, crown molding). It is in such close proximity to Duke, many walking trails, and downtown Durham. We highly recommend Campus Walk!"
