Reviews of The Colony Apartments
"Living at The Colony Apartments has been an incredibly challenging experience for me, and it's important to share my experience for the benefit of others considering this property. From the outset, I was confronted with a series of issues that significantly impacted my quality of life and health. The apartments, lobby, and amenities are nice. Actually, living in the Colony is a nightmare. Firstly, the gym adjacent to my unit generated excessive noise starting at 4 AM, including loud treadmill operations, music, and weightlifting activities that exceeded typical expectations and were not disclosed to me before my move. Additionally, my upstairs neighbor's late-night activities with their dog were obnoxious into the late hours. (1 AM, 2 AM, 3 AM), accompanied by frequent barking, severely disrupted my sleep despite using an air purifier, TV, and noise machine. Basically, if you need or prefer a good night's sleep, look elsewhere. Moreover, the property's experience with secondhand smoke intrusion, security issues with broken locks, and the unsettling presence of homeless individuals sleeping on the premises added to my discomfort. On my moving day, I encountered a broken lock on my apartment door that had to be drilled out and a delayed move-out process by days. The apartment's poor lighting conditions contributed to the death of my mature fiddle leaf fig. I was told that these conditions (noise and light) were either known to me when choosing the apartment or were my responsibility to accept. Efforts to address these grievances through a potential unit change within the building were met with the prospect of a significant rent increase, which I found unreasonable. More distressingly, my health deteriorated during my tenancy, marked by intense brain fog and significant hair loss. Subsequent bloodwork confirmed my suspicions of mold toxicity, unrelated to other health markers, reinforcing concerns raised by other tenants regarding mold in the building. This experience, compounded by my health condition that necessitates regular hormone and blood tests, prompted my decision to leave The Colony Apartments. My goal was to recover from the toxins accumulated during my stay without being penalized for breaking my lease, given the stark disparity between my expectations and the reality of living at The Colony. This decision was not made lightly, as relocating is a significant undertaking, especially shortly after moving in. However, my well-being and safety concerns left me with no other viable option. The Colony was, of course, no help and not concerned at all about my health, damaged property, or issues I had during my time on the property. Would not recommend it! There are lots of other lovely apartments in the Charlotte area that will treat you like a human. :)"
"I moved into the Colony due to the fact my own home was under a remodel. I am paying $ 4,200.00 a month for a two bedroom. Between the nightly awakening of noisy neighboring tenants adjoining uninsulated walls between units, incompetent inhouse management, filthy common areas with visible trash/ feces throughout this complex, and a slew of commercial dumpsters surrounding this facility being serviced between the hours of 3 am - 6:00 am every night, elevator's, trash shutes, garage gates, routinely in disrepair, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!"
"If I was you, I would look elsewhere..!!! This facility is grossly/ incompetently mismanaged to state the least. It is incredibly overpriced at ($4,200 for a 2 bedroom). One of most noisy environments I have ever lived in, between neighboring dumpster's that start being emptied at 4-8am nightly, to the paper thin walls of the neighboring tenant's, in which noise complaint's to management routinely fall on deaf ears. Facility and grounds are poorly maintained/un kept. Elevator's/Garage entry gates/trash chutes are constantly inoperable. Fire Alarms routinely go off at all hours of the night. Visible Dog Fecal matter exists throughout the exterior grounds."
"If you are looking for a new place to call home in the area, The Colony is definitely worth considering. One of the standout features of this community is the exceptional customer service provided by Marcos. He is intelligent and kind, making you feel welcomed and comfortable during your tour. His knowledge about the community can help you make an informed decision when choosing your new home. In addition to the great customer service, The Colony is a stunning community that offers a range of amenities that can enhance your quality of life. Overall, Marcos is a great asset to The Colony, and his commitment to excellent customer service can make a big difference in your overall living experience. If you're looking for a new home in the area, be sure to check out The Colony and ask for Marcos."
"By far the best up and coming complex in CLT. Marcos makes the leasing process easy, enjoyable, personable and fun. He was exceptional to work with and made sure to go the extra mile when looking for the perfect unit. It is obvious he truly cares about ensuring you are taken care of! The apartments themselves exceed expectations. The amenities are like no other in this area and the property is beautiful!"
