"Please read if you are looking at living at community room rental !!! Pro: Warm Place to sleep, Quiet, Flexible and Clean Con: They will take most of your deposit, There are no community events, they will threaten to send you to collections, unprofessional housemates My Story: I contacted community room rentals in May 2023 about leasing a room. I spoke with Jason Wallace who was very nice and professional. They advertise Community room rental (CRR) as a place where you might make friends and based off their social media they even have community events which in reality, do not occur. Many people in other reviews describe the vibe as “halfway house”, which I believe is the most accurate depiction. I originally signed a six-month lease set to end 12/31/23. Per the lease you are supposed to let management know 60 Days in Advance of the end of your lease that you plan to extend. At this point I signed a Month-To-Month Lease at the end of Oct.2023 because I needed the flexibility. In Dec.2023 my girlfriend received a job offer in Charlotte and we decided to sign a lease at a new place, so I began the process of vacating CRR . At this point I was still under my original lease when I requested to end my lease they attempted to treat it as a lease breakage. (A fine of 2-months rent plus forfeiture of your entire deposit at a total cost of $2,300). After 3 calls I was able to get CRR to understand I was not breaking the lease but instead ending my month-to-month lease starting Jan.2023. They did finally realize the mistake and made it right just took some persuasion on my end. When it comes to getting your deposit back CRR requires a $500 dollar deposit of which $100 is not refundable, and then they take another $100 for professional carpet cleaning, and lastly they took $150 dollars from me to repaint the bathroom walls they claimed I got water marks on. Some paint discoloration where you hang a towel after a shower is expected as part of general wear and tear. When I questioned this charge they would not answer the last time the bathroom was painted and proceeded to threaten to send me to collections despite being paid in full and up to date. I can eat $150 dollars but some people can’t, and the fact they proceeded to threaten to hurt my credit rubbed me the wrong way. Please do your research."

"My time at Community Room Rental has been great!! There’s a weekly cleaning crew, so the shared spaces are rarely dirty, which is nice. I thought the co-living situation would be worse than it was, but I haven’t had many issues. Jason is great about resolving issues as they arise, but it rarely gets to that point. This has been a wonderful experience and I highly recommend living here!!"
