Stillwater Apartments

"I have lived at this apartment complex now for 6 months, and I have seen drastic improvements in just two weeks of new management. The old management would not answer the phone, come up with any solutions to my problems (I.e. not having a mailbox key in all of the 6 months I have lived here, even though I brought it to their attention every month), or communicate efficiently on community occurrences. The new management has clearly communicated all changes, enforced policy of towing vehicles that are abandoned, cleaned up the property, and gave me my mailbox key same day of me bringing it to their attention. The property manager, Nick, immediately went above and beyond to assist me with some of my issues and fixed them very quickly. Overall, my time here has been wonderful with the quiet and peace of the community, but what made me really want to take the time to write a review is to applaud the new management of the property."

"Overall my stay here was pretty descent, I love Mr. Stan and Morgan they are the sweetest literally, but Ashley manora was alway rude and hostile when I went up to the office or either called, she supposed to be the manager but when I first moved in I always went to Morgan and Stan for anything and they always satisfied my issue or answers any questions without a problem, this new manager, Ashley, is not it!! And needs to learn how to talk to people especially residents that’s paying their rent faithfully every month."

"THIS IS A LONG READ, BUT I ENCOURAGE IT BE READ FULLY BEFORE RENTING HERE. It hasn't quite been a month since I moved in here with my boyfriend; absolutely NOTHING has gone smoothly and no one has been helpful. First and foremost, the photos they are using to advertise these units are not a reflection of what ALL of the units look like. Only 10 units on the property (which I believe includes the model unit they showed us when touring) actually look as advertised, while the rest are old, dated, and rundown. We didn't discover this until the day we moved in and were left stunned. Amenities that are advertised on their website aren't in the units that haven't been renovated (no new fixtures, no granite countertops, no microwave, old dirty patchy vinyl floors). On top of this, there's a whole host of issues the unit has. We didn't have a smoke detector for two weeks, just the wires hanging from the fixture. The whole unit smelled like cigarette smoke and had to be aired out for days. There's issues with the plumbing: one toilet tank constantly runs, the other toilet isn't properly sealed and secured to the floor, one of the shower faucets isn't secured to the wall properly, and the kitchen sink not only loose and leaks when shaken, but the end of the fixture itself is just GONE. So water splashes everywhere when the sink turns on. Our washing machine wasn't connected properly and we waited days before maintenance finally responded to the request. Fruit flies (!!!) were crawling out of the kitchen sink and we had a persistent issue with them flying loose around the unit; they've only just begun to decrease recently. The kitchen drawers are flimsy, sinking, and just generally kind of nasty. The lower cabinets are peeling and were also probably damaged from the leaky sink. Some of the old cabinet lining from the previous tenants is still there. One drawer is missing a handle. The fridge is not level and wobbles to one side; the freezer leaks cold air while closed. The towel racks and holders in the bathrooms aren't properly drilled and secured into the wall; we had one fall off after a week of being here. There's very obvious signs of water damage or a leak of some sort having taken place prior to our move in. The vinyl flooring is warped and dips in places, ceiling fixtures were lazily taken out and caulked over without even being sanded, and then painted over in yellow. There's faulty wiring; some light fixtures just don't work or flicker/randomly turn off and on. Loose and cracked outlets, light fixtures in the bathroom lazily ripped off and replaced. Half the door to the utility room is just not there. We DID get new carpet, but we could tell it was a rush job because of how lazily trimmed it is in places (trimmings, of which, they left behind for us to have to eventually vacuum btw). We were given a week to submit our move-in checklist and to report any issues with the unit so that they could be addressed. We submitted this documentation, as well as a more detailed explanation, signed and dated 3 days after moving in. We've had flimsy contact from the management office since and no clear indication that anything will actually be done to fix these problems we have. We've even held off unpacking most of our things because of it, in the hopes that "maybe they'll come by soon." But we've been basically fed BS and left to figure out what's going on. Hence, why I'm writing this review. I'm giving two stars because despite the issues, the area is nice, convenient, and the amount of space the unit provides us is ideal. But everything else has ruined the experience and we have absolutely not gotten the value we were expecting. If these issues had been addressed or some sort of attempt to get even a few of them sorted out were made, I would still be willing to give this place a chance to redeem itself. But we didn't spend our hard earned money to essentially be ripped off and left to make the best of it. Please weigh your options and get clear communication about what you are being offered before signing the lease."

"I moved in recently while relocating from Birmingham. Everything was a smooth transition. The office staff helped my transition very smoothly. The maintenance was helpful as well while helping me place stuff in my unit or fixing everything in a timely matter. I would rent to this apartment again. I am enjoying my transition so far!"

"3 year resident here. It’s been almost a year since Hawthorne took over the property is amazing maintenance request are completed in a timely manner. The office staff are extremely nice especially Stanley and Morgan. My pets are welcomed with open arms. I feel at home and I love it here."
