Reviews of Avalon Highland Creek
"I write this review with very mixed feelings because overall I have enjoyed most of my time here, but I feel like a 3-star rating is just about right - some good and some bad. I am going to try to be as in-depth as possible with my review and address the major concerns that I have seen in other reviews: - Rent here has SKY-ROCKETED since the new company (Avalon) took over. I started renting from here when it was Broadstone Highland Creek in 2022 and a 1 Bed/1 Bath apartment was $1,390/month base. Since the new company took over, my rent is now $1,557/month base - for the exact same apartment (and I am sure it will increase even more when I get my renewal at the end of this month). Meanwhile, they are advertising their 1 BR/1 BA apartment on their website right now for around $1,400/month. Why should your tenants who are already there and have been there have to pay almost $200+ more than a brand new renter? - The maintenance team is PHENOMENAL. This is 100% the true highlight of Avalon Highland Creek. Work orders get done very quickly and efficiently and their maintenance team is extremely professional and have great personalities. They are all always a joy to run into around the community. - Parking needs some serious work - you can tell this was not an initial thought in the development of this apartment - which is no fault of Avalon - I am just telling you the facts. You can pay for a "reserved" spot, but to me it's not worth the extra $60-ish it costs per month to have one. They also have garages - but good luck getting one that is located near your building. If you have visitors, they have to park a mile away (even in the Harris Teeter parking lot across the road) and it is a huge inconvenience for everyone involved. I will say that they are on top of towing and booting cars - so do not try and park there in the evening or overnights if you don't have a parking pass because you will be towed or booted. There are also way too many "compact" spaces and parking there is always a risk - because people are always parking there with any kind of vehicle and my car has been dinged several times because of how small the "compact" spots are and because of how many people park in these spots who do not actually have compact cars. - The apartment itself is fantastic and is definitely luxury. Plenty of space for a 1 BR apartment and has a lot of great upgrades (appliances, cabinets, W/D's, USB ports, countertops, showers, etc.). - Valet trash is hit or miss. It runs Sunday nights through Thursday nights and it's 50/50 whether or not your trash gets picked up or not. It's a great service to have, but it needs some work too - especially because this is something that you pay for as a part of your rent. - Staff communication has gotten better and they have started having more "events" for residents - which I will count as a positive. This is feedback that they got right away and tried to fix it pretty quickly and have done a pretty good job in doing so. - The gym/fitness center is also another place that is extremely nice and is nicer than most gyms that that you would have to pay a membership to. - I will most likely will not be renewing my lease and will be looking for somewhere else to live when my lease runs out in 2024. The price alone is the main reason - there are plenty of other places in the area that are just as nice that have much better rates on 1 Bed/1 Bath apartments and there are some (in the Highland Creek area) that you can have a 2 Bed/2 Bath apartment for what you will pay for a 1 Bed/1 Bath at Avalon. Just looking at their website now they have 25 open apartments - and I can almost guarantee you it is because of 1) The price of the apartments in general and 2) Parking here is truly terrible."
"DON’T MOVE HERE! Why would anyone want to live here. If you come to visit you have to park across the street in the Harris Teeter parking lot. So much for your car being safe. They also promised a beer everyday and that never happened. Garbage stays in the hallway and stinks the whole place up. And when you say something to management they “. Sorry we are not willingly big to change that right now” DO NOT MOVE HERE"
"Moved in at the top of the month and Lamar, Diamond, and Eric truly helped feel at home. The new tenant orientation was thorough along with recommendations since I’m new to the state. The staff calmed my nerves with being extremely informative and helpful . I am looking forward to my experience while staying in this community"
"I have been having issues with my washer and dryer. Lamar was able to solve the issue by installing a new washer and dryer set. The process was seamless. He provided great customer service and was professional. Avalon is very fortunate to have a maintenance team like Lamar and Diamond. Thank you!"
"Loved the community! Building was well kept and leasing office Team was really nice (shoutout to Jace!) and we never had any issues in the year we were there. Amenities were useful. Only small downside was parking spots are a little tight but always available. Location is great - surprisingly walkable to many stores and restaurants and right next to the highway. Would recommend!"
