"I try to make an effort not to write any one star reviews because usually 1 star experiences are a drop in the dime. But this apartment complex has consistently been the WORST apartment complex I've ever had to deal with. It's not even the actual state of the aparments (which are pretty bad). Trying to reach a representative and get issues resolved has been the most unpleasant experience I've ever had to do with in any form. The last straw was when the person I was talking to at the Alicia at front desk literally hung up on me. I advice no one to move in here."
"Update: I would have left 4 stars, but one of the staff members Shani tried to bribe people for 5 star reviews with a $15 gift card. That left a really sour taste in my mouth. 3 stars it is! The Spoke at Tyvola has gone through a lot in one year. This place used to be some kind of old motel, so many of these units are remodled fixer-uppers rather than new construction, so keep in mind you will likely see a lot of signs of repair and paintovers. Though, this doesn't bother me much, as long as things work. The property was acquired by a different company, Rangewater, about half a year ago and it caused a major turnover with the staff, so reaching out to someone was extremely difficult. I actually tried to call and email someone for a lease renewal, but I never got a response until 30 days before my expiration date, which is not enough time for me to make such a big decision. I ended up finding a new place. But, I want to give Alicia a special thank you for hearing my situation and helping me finally begin my move-out after speaking with her in person, since I never received a response using their website's email portal or phone line. Alicia proves that there are still some people working here that can get things done, so thank you! We've had tons of power outage and internet issues since the old company, BUT this has since been resolved under Rangewater, so I can't fault them for this. Keep in mind that while they have a pool, it's been closed for use since my entire lease. They also have a small fitness room with a few dumbbells/treadmills and a small building for washers/dryers. It's not much, but when you compare the rent prices here to basically any other apartments in Charlotte, I think its fine for what it is. We've had maybe 3 community events since 2023 started. It hasn't been much, and they usually notify us of these events on the same day they host them around noon and make it last from 3pm to 5pm. Unless you happen to already be on the property to make it, you will likely miss these events. This is definitely something they could improve. In terms of their resident portal, I'm not a fan. Like I said before, you almost never get a response or confirmation if you send them an email through the portal. To pay rent, the service they use charges a $2 fee for ACH transactions and you must use Plaid, which has had several controversies about selling bank data unlawfully. I've refused to use it and have been paying rent with cashier's checks instead. In terms of maintenance, the crew under the old company was excellent. I've never had anything break down while Rangewater was here, so I'm not sure how their crew is at handling repairs. The location here is very nice. I don't get a feeling like I'm in danger when walking outside and I rarely hear any loud noises, though you will most likely need to take a car if you plan to go anywhere farther than the Costco up the road. Overall, I'd say they are doing a decent job for the price point. Things should be on the upswing if they are given enough time to get their staffing up to acceptable levels and keep working on property improvements. The moveout procedures was thankfully a smooth process with no complications."
"Where do I start.. As you can see from the previous reviews, there have been a lot of the same reoccurring issues. This complex had the potential to be a decent community. However, both managing companies dropped the ball. A few of the top concerns, continuous power outrageous. This is not for an hour here or there but for hours (all day) every other week like clock work. I moved here September 2022, these outages started in late December 2022, January of 2023 to date. Is this not a major concern that should be on the top of the list to address? Although, the WIFI was not an issue I had until about June/July 2023, this too started to become incredibly slow or go out consistently. Which, the combination of these two things create an issue when you work from home. I am, then being inconvenienced having to go into my office or somewhere else. The mailroom, the gym, the bike room, laundry room and pool had not been opened for quite some time. Early/mid November 2022 most amenities opened , except for the pool. The pool, has yet to be opened to date. Are we not paying for the use? I can go on and on.. I will say things became worst when management changed from RKW to Range Water. All of the temporary staff incredibly rude, unprofessional and not helpful. As they have dropped the price and it looks good BEWARE there is a reason.. the high move out rate would be why. It has gone downhill, including whom they are now letting in to be at capacity."
"When I first moved here November 2022 I was excited. Everything was ok first couple months. After has just been disappointment after disappointment! I feel I am paying too much for the issues and all the inconveniences. We have the most power outages! I’ve have food gone bad due to this, had to go stay with family because no air. There is a pool and it has never been open. New management came and seem like things got worse. I will definitely be moving after my lease and I honestly was thinking of getting a lawyer to see if I can get some of my money back because. This is not what I signed up for they really need to Drop the rent because it’s not worth it honestly! Had I known what I know now I would have paid extra for a nicer and more reliable place."
"This place has gone downhill under the new ownership and management. They could care less about anything other than collecting over assessed rent. The pool remains closed with NO communication as to the reason. The laundry facility is always dirty. One community event since March (it's August). I'm constantly having to contact our valet trash company for not collecting my trash, yet it cost $25/mo. for the service. Electricity goes out so much, I've lost count. Their response to complaints is to (questionably) simply blame Duke Energy instead of working closely with them to find a resolve. OR, better yet, INSTALL A GENERATOR!!! God forbid your HVAC goes out. Trying to get them to respond is like pulling teeth (no AC in 75-90 degree weather for four months is evident of lack of care and concern). Overall, the lack of communication, urgency and genuine concern for the well being of the residents speaks volumes to the moral compass of management here. Especially, since the few good reviews are from previous/current management/staff. They have all the time in the world to respond to these reviews (obviously to save face), but no time or integrity to respond to residents in real life and TRULY make this place a comfortable and enjoyable living experience."
