Reviews of Hook Line & Paddle
"Hook Line and Paddle have outstanding service and knowledge of Thule Roof Racks. I ordered mine over the phone from them and it arrived in 2 days later. They did a free build and installation of the rack on my Jeep. You don't get that kind of service by ordering online. A great Local Store & Supplier."
"My wife and daughter spent $2000.00 on Thule equipment and one piece was for a bar that is needed for the two hullavator racks for their kayaks. Dan and owner Chris refused to give me a refund on the which they insisted was the bar for our SUV Which in fact was the wrong size. They said the box had been opened by us and that they couldn't resell it and thus they would only give me a credit. I came home to find that they sold us the bar from a box that had already been opened and taped when they bought. They may have good stuff but beware they are not fair with their customers."
"Thought I'd share my experience of purchasing a Wilderness Systems Pungo 125 kayak from them today. In short (which this review is not), it may have been the smoothest, best, most efficient retail kayak purchase in the history of paddling. For the last month or so I'd been dealing with a chain outdoor store with a location in Wilmington that had repeatedly been stringing me along with multiple vague, empty promises about when the Pungo 125 I put a deposit on in April would finally show up (the old, ambiguous "supply chain" excuse, some corporate merger that happened in 2019, etc.). I finally got fed up and found Hook Line & Paddle (HL&P) on Google. To my astonishment, HL&P had the Pungo 125 listed on their website as "in stock," and for the same money as the other shop. Best of all, their website inventory turned out to ACTUALLY be accurate, unlike a lot of the other shops' useless, time-wasting website inventories. I quickly paid for the boat online, which was super easy and convenient, and emailed them to confirm they had the boat in stock. As it was Monday, the shop was actually closed that day. Nevertheless, I received a friendly reply email from Dan at HL&P within hours confirming they did indeed have the boat, and that I could pick it up the very next day (today). I was frankly flabergasted at how easy it all seemed, especially considering the "other" shop had made it sound like the Queen of England herself couldn't get a Pungo 125 in less than a month. I was almost certain something would go wrong, or that I'd awaken to realize it was all just a dream. But it wasn't a dream. I showed up to the shop today and there was the exact boat I'd ordered, all prettied up and waiting for me, in perfect, pristine condition. Not so much as a torn sticker or scuff mark to be found. Dan and another gentleman (whose name I forgot to get, but who was also great) kindly loaded my boat into my vehicle for me, and even provided me with some rope to secure it better. I learned that the shop is proudly veteran-owned, which helps to explain all the excellence. Even compared to other veteran-owned businesses though, I dare say that few of them, if any, exhibited the impressive level of military precision that I witnessed at HL&P. After bringing home my new boat, I was able to spend the afternoon paddling around Stump Sound on its maiden voyage. Much like my experience with Hook Line & Paddle, It couldn't have been more perfect. I highly recommend visiting them in-person or online as your very first stop when shopping kayaks or paddling gear. Thank you!"
"Purchased my first kayak as a retirement gift from Hook Line & Paddle. Chris and Dan were both extremely helpful to me and my family as we selected the kayak and accessories. Chris and Dan were always polite and took extra time to ensure that the kayak was best suited to me. Quality and service is exceptional. I wouldn't purchase from any other shop."
"Great shop! I bought a kayak from them and the staff were very helpful and polite. I dealt with Dan and he made the process a joy. Swing by and check them out. They have a lot of stuff in stock."
