Reviews of Legacy Fort Mill Apartments
"Dishing out a 5 star simply because I appreciate the renewed efforts to keep the pool clean even in the winter. Some people also use it for cooler temperature activities like a plunge. Also the refreshment and upkeep on the gym was much needed and appreciated. Security concerns with car break ins was an issue and do see a car occasionally patrolling now at night. Props for all of that. Maintenance is a 5/5. Fair cons: Yes you can hear everything through the walls just be warned. And yes the dumpster is used as a dumping ground each week which is an eye sore. There is new construction by the bunch of apartments up the hill. Took away a lot of the great tree scenery and added lots of noise for time being. That second entrance is also pitch black at night. Could use a sign or maybe a little more lighting. Possibly just temporarily out."
"Management cares nothing about the property or its residents. They don't respond to emails you send them, especially if the emails are regarding issues or complaints. They are charging $2k a month for 2-bd apartments, citing this is "luxury apartment living," but there are absolutely NO luxuries here. The gym is a joke - the machines are old and haven't been deep cleaned in a very long time. There are no attachments for the main exercise machine, probably bc someone stole them. We finally have security patrol after over 50 cars got broken into in July 2023 with windows smashed and items stolen. They don't care about any of the landscaping, as there's dead bushes, trees, and grass all over the common areas (yes, it's winter but this was the case in the summer and I sent an email about it and nobody responded, per usual). As long as the leasing office looks pretty, that's all that matters, so they can sell apartments. All of the apartments have the Ki-Tech plumbing which causes nothing but problems, water heater leaks and flooding. These apartments have absolutely no noise insulation. I live on the first floor and I can actually hear my upstairs neighbors' baby crying and wailing. I've complained about the noise, sent recordings of how loud the neighbors are upstairs and they do nothing about it. I had to take matters into my own hands and go upstairs and confront my neighbor. He even said the girl who lived here before me had complaints about the noise from his apartment and of course, nothing was done by mgmt. Oh, and let's not forget the "valet" trash pickup - residents are forced to pay $25/month for this useless service. They pick up trash only on Sunday-Thursday and if they don't feel like coming here, they don't. And, you end up having trash bags sitting outside your unit for days on end. Do yourself a favor - don't move in here, especially in Phase 1 (i lived in phase 1 before moving into Phase 2 bc it was so awful), There's NEVER any parking, there's tons of kids who run around, tearing up everything bc their parents let them run wild. This place is a disaster. Phase 2 is a little better but now we have tons of construction bc they are building townhomes right outside our doors. It's loud and an eye-sore. If you want actual luxury apartments and get what you pay for, go somewhere else bc you ain't getting it here."
"Update: - I really regret signing here after what’s happened the last so many months - The beautiful tree line around the upgraded apartments has been completely removed and there is mass construction going on right now which is super loud. It starts early and it vibrates our entire apartment most of the day. The reduction of privacy and beauty, combined with the insane increase of noise and traffic is horrible and removes a major selling point in us choosing to live here. - It’s not a gated community and there was a mass break in of vehicles on the upper level where the upgraded apartments are. While crime can happen anywhere this place is extremely accessible and there is nothing preventing people from doing it again. - Based on what I see online right now they did cut the rent prices being offered on apartments and it’s now several hundred dollars below what we signed for just this spring. If we can negotiate our rent to their new lower benchmark maybe we will consider re-signing, but honestly it’s really hard to want to stay here. Four months in… Pros: - As a dog owner I appreciate that the waste bins are always taken care of and never overflowing, so it prevents any bad smells - I also appreciate that the grass is cut short enough each week so it’s easy to pick up after my dogs - Fenced in dog park on the hill is much appreciated - The modern apartments on the hill are nice - Maintenance is kind and responsive - We always have parking available in our area - Easy access to highway, schools, and shops - Far less maintenance problems if you live in the updated apartments - Front office people are very nice in my experience Cons - Half the dog park is gravel/rocks for some reason which is not good for the paw pads. I can tell my dogs really don’t like to run on it. They prefer to be on the grass. I wish they would replace the rocks with grass. - When we moved in our apartment was extremely beat up, holes in all the doors, black mold everywhere. Maintenance said this was an anomaly by the contractors who came to make some repairs said people really beat up these apartments on the hill. There is no way anyone walked through our apartment for months before we moved in. It was a really disappointing move in experience, especially considering the money we paid. Thankfully they did replace the dishwasher entirely. - Gym is very outdated, equipment is extremely used, rusted, etc. The whole gym needs to be redone - People dump their garbage on the side of the dumpster area and the entire right lower level looks and smells like trash 24/7, especially in the summer. It’s definitely an eyesore. Never seen anything like it anywhere else I’ve ever lived - For people looking for apartments in the area down from the hill, it’s more of when not if you experience a leak, whether it’s in your apartment or from one of your neighbors because the original builders used cheap pipes on the main part of the complex. It’s the number one thing I hear about from maintenance or contractors that have come to fix items at my apartment. They say it’s almost every day."
"I’ve lived here for about a year now and the BEST part of living here are the maintenance/ground keepers. They are super friendly with the whole community and attentive (they are the ONLY reasons I gave this review 2 stars) However… be cautious about the fact that there is little to no security in place and it continues to become increasingly unsafe to live here. Multiple incidents involving car break-ins and even apartment break-ins. I understand this can happen anywhere, however, there have been no known improvements to prevent these incidents. The most recent incident being 20+ car break-ins last week. Unfortunately, most of my experience with the leasing staff has been unpleasant. They have not very friendly and appear to ignore both major and minor problems. Extremely strict trash policy - there’s no way to opt out of trash valet either. You are also not allowed to put up your own security cameras, yet they have not put any in place themselves. I can hear the upstairs residents making any form of movements and it sounds like they are constantly moving furniture throughout all hours of the day into the early night (and yes, I have brought this to the leasing department’s attention). When I moved in, I noticed the paint cover ups don’t even match the wall paint and had multiple different damages in the apartment Gym is extremely outdated with minimal equipment The residence who live here that I have interacted with are great. I can say with certainty that I will NEVER rent here again."
"I've been here a little over a week and it's a hot mess so far. My neighbors upstairs sound like they are moving furniture daily or just dropping bowling balls. I had to email the office twice before receiving a response regarding the noise. I can smell my neighbors' food when they cook or something through my bathroom vents. I have been awakened at 3 am in the morning on one of the COLD mornings to about 7 teenagers at the pool jumping in at 3 AM and talking loudly! The grounds are not really well kept, no flowers so it just looks bland. And to top it off, my neighbors pipe burst and water came leaking through my ceiling. Funny thing is my first night in my bedroom, I looked up and saw where water stains were painted over so the pipe bursting has happened before. I'm wondering if they can do something to prevent it but just refuse to? One good thing is the maintenance rep. named Raymond or Randall responded quickly and was friendly, polite, and helpful. The pool is finally looking to be taken care of, but it was really nasty when I moved in. Thankfully this is a temporary stop until I buy a home. I don't foresee renewing my lease. The property just doesn't seem to be cared for at all and people seem free to do whatever they want. This is my experience and observations in just a little over a week so I hope it gets better because worse would be terrible."
