Reviews of Jaew Hon
"Place was very small Seating and mobility around the Restaurant was terrible The fish, square fish balls and marinated pork were great! The garlic fried rice was also great. The service was below average This place is cash only The chicken was super bland For $35 (not including tax and tip) , it’s an okay deal. Went with a group of 11 people Total was $49 per person"
"First of all, I went to this Thai hot pot more than one time but never put a review. Another time the service was good BUT this time the women server was NASTY to our group. She was TERRIBlE!!! Another waiter was good but only her, She acted like she was mad and maybe she was upset with her sad life. So she didn't want to serve the customer good. I feel sorry for the business, to hire this suffer and sad person to serve customers. If you don't want to work at that day, you should take a day off and fix it out what you want to do, instead of destroying your workplace. I still gave 20% tip for the guy but still not happy with the woman. As long as you speak the same language, don't you want to get a good pay? the advantage of working at the Thai place didn't give you enough happiness? LOL! Poor you! Anyway, CASH only!!!"
"Food was great. 3 dipping sauces to die for, chrysanthemum tea like I can't find anywhere else, and garlic rice like you've never had before... so good. Where did it go wrong? The bill. For my party we got presented with a 21.7% automatic tip. On top of that, the tax added was calculated based off the total with tip. which means we paid about 33% for tax + tip. It also wasn't indicated on menu that tip would be automatically applied for my party. Don't get me wrong. I loved the food and this was my second time coming back. But this will be my last because I feel scammed and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Oh yea they only accept cash."
"I made special trip to NY from west coast for this place. My favorite is the clear spicy broth (tom zap) and of course the garlic fried rice. The dipping sauces are special too. I made sure to come by before 5pm to avoid dinner rush."
"The best hot pot place in NYC, and probably my favorite of all the hot pot places ever. The only Thai hot pot place that I know of in the city as well. It is AYCE and the prices have gone up over the past few years from $19.95 until now $34.95. Thank you, inflation. But it is still worth it. And it is CASH ONLY, which is slightly inconvenient, but still worth it. The broth is always so delicious. I always stick with the Tom Yum and Jaew Hon broth. They are both spicy and flavorful. Some days are more spicy than others. The beef is good quality and fresh. I especially like the fish filet and calamari. To dip these in their amazing spicy lime sauce - just divine. Since Covid, the customers are no longer allowed up to the veggies and rice stand. But the servers are quick with getting me what I need. I love the morning glory which none of the other hot pot places has. It is perfect when soaked in the flavors of the Thai broth. Another unique item is the unlimited garlic rice! My husband always devours this. Even though the place is small and the menu items are not expansive like some major hot pot restaurants nowadays, the freshness of the ingredients, the flavorful broth choices, the delicious sauces are more than enough to keep me and plenty of other from coming back. I always enjoy my meals here. It was worth the trek to Queens every single time."
