"AMS has been the best landlord I've had in my time here at Boone. Some of the other companies I've worked with have been a bit over bearing when it comes to sudden drop-ins without notice, even stolen items from the apartment from the "cleaners". I really appreciate AMS for treating students like professionals."
"I have rented from app management for 3 years now, 2 in my current place and 1 in my former. The reason I am giving them 2 stars instead of 1 or even 0 is because there is one person in the office that is quite nice and actually makes sure our work orders get done. However, since my roommate and I moved into this place it's been an absolute nightmare. The location is good, and because of that they are raising the rent by over $200 next year. When we moved in, our dishwasher kept leaking, the apartment was dirty, light fixtures were painted over to the point of not being able to use them, and there was mold all inside our closets and on our windows. And that's just the highlights of the list. Even after reporting the mold, nobody came to fix it and I ended up having to take care of it myself. Maintenance requests can easily take over a month to be filled, if they ever do, and things break often. The building itself is poorly made and old. The floorboards creak like nothing else, I can hear my downstairs neighbors have a conversation, and I can hear every step my upstairs neighbors take. When taking a shower, I'm lucky if the hot water lasts for 15 minutes in the winter. The outside was covered in trash, and I really wish I saw the giant build up of cigarettes in front of one of the apartments before we signed the lease. It's obvious that neither management nor landlord cares about this property. This is all specific to the building I am in, which is Meadowview Condominiums, but I can tell that whoever is in charge just cares about money more than the tenants. I would highly recommend finding someone else to rent from."
"I had the most uncomfortable experience with Appalachian Management and an older adult male who took us to go see a property. He was rude, disrespectful, and made my roommate and I uncomfortable. I left feeling so upset and he did not answer any of our questions or show us around. He spoke mainly to the contractor who was there and tried to tell me that he would not accept any paperwork regarding an ESA. I do not trust this company and I would not recommend going through this company for housing."
"When my roommate and I tried to get a unit through this company, they could not give us any updates about complexes we were interested in. Every time we called about an update on the units available, they said there was no update because they didn't call the current tenants about whether they were renewing their lease (despite setting a "deadline") but to call again later that week. This process lasted 2 months until they failed to tell us they were scheduling people to visit the units we were interested in despite my roommate and I calling first. I highly recommend avoiding this company."
"At first i was iffy to rent because of some things i heard from other people, but i did because they had what i was looking for in an apartment at short notice and i do not regret it at all! They have always been very helpful, communicative and straight forward with their leases and expectations. Every single person in the actual physical office on King Street is super friendly and always happy to help! The apartment I rented at was really nice, no mold issues, and was nicely cleaned when I first moved in last year. I’m typing this as i move out as my lease is finished, and just felt liked it’d be good to let people know that not everyone has a horrible experience with them. The reason for one less star is the rent cost, but that applies for all housing in Boone (ridiculously expensive). I had an overall awesome experience with AMS and would rent with them again if could!"
