This establishment is a combination of a bar, restaurant, food store, and vinyl record store all rolled into one. With a laid-back vibe and killer tunes playing, Hunky Dory is the perfect place to catch the vinyl fever.
The original Hunky Dory store opened in 2010 on Ninth Street near Whole Foods Market and The Regulator Bookshop. "Hands down my favorite record shop in Raleigh. The atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They always have the best selection of records from top hits to hidden gems. On top of that, they have one of the best rotating tap lists to enjoy while browsing. I take all my out of town friends here. Definitely with a drop in!"
"Great variety with steady turnover of inventory, and the best prices on used anywhere. I find at least one used gem every week. Plus, you can enjoy a local draft beer while digging. Oh, and the people are nice to boot."
"Again a hidden gem in plain sight. I stumbled upon this vault of vinyl and beer on a recommendation. The vinyl (and cassettes too!) is awesome from new to vintage. But the beer experience was second to none. The bartender was welcoming and poured a great pint. The music sounded great and we just enjoyed what they were playing. I don’t know if we can make requests, but it doesn’t matter. We will definitely be back. I’m sure once the construction is finished it will be hopping."
"Awesome selection of new and used records, and to make it even better - a bar! Even if you aren't looking for new music, this shop is great to just come by and hang - they have 10+ rotating local beers on tap and the bartenders usually have on GREAT music. Plus, super dog friendly - it was our boy Nigel's favorite spot to chill."
"My fiance brought me here because he stumbled upon it and LOVED how awesome it was. And I completely agree. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The have beer, Florida Seltzers and CBD water to choose from while your browse the vast record selection. They not only allow dogs, but welcome them with open arms. We were lucky to find some of the more obscure records he was looking for. And overall, we are excited to go back again and see what other fun gems they have."
