Reviews of Blackbox Theater
"Recently drove in for a show here and was blown away. Great sound system and club layout plus free parking right outside. Pit area is great and venue above the pit is wide open for more space/dancing. #1 venue in Charlotte easily and top 3 in the South overall. Hope we get some more progressive house and techno here in the near future"
"This was my first visit to Blackbox and I gotta say it was great, I been to just about 100 concerts in my life at all kinds of Venues. I had a great experience the sound was great room was spacious and yet intimate I was at the very front and literally could reach out and high five the performers. The best part was the parking it was free and I was about 45 min early and was able to park right up front super easy to leave after the show as well. Overall I had a great great time apashe, wasiu, and ymir all killed it btw."
"Simply one of the very best EDM and music venues Charlotte has ever had. The music varies from show to show, but the majority are House, Techno, or Bass Music. Everything about Blackbox is a 10/10. The “big ass” fans on the high ceilings make for plenty of airflow. The enormous 20,000 square.ft.open space gives off total 90’s/00’s rave vibes and is well concealed in the industrial area of NODA on E.Sugar Creek Rd. The staff are super friendly and the owner, Jay himself was once the guy behind the notorious venue, “The Chop Shop.” The level of details and amount of audio/visual technology that have gone into this warehouse are absolutely staggering. The huge “double level” layout which includes the main area (where the control booth is also located)plus “the pit” located on the dance floor in front of the dj booth allows for ample space no matter where you are. The visuals are totally top notch, and with every show, a nice mix of high-tech, automated lighting and LED video screens are provided. The sound system is what BB is well known for it will blow your mind and is one of the best in the Carolina’s hands down. Awesome clarity and unforgettable, punishing bass from a horde of BASSBOSS subwoofers will rattle your brains including the newest “Kraken” which is a quadruple 21” sub arrangement in a single box!!! If I had to make a guess I would say at least a quarter of a million was invested into the sound system. Trust me , wear earplugs to protect your hearing peeps! So if you’re looking for a legit place to hear proper EDM, look no further than Blackbox, you won’t be disappointed! Keep up the great work guys and see you soon! Much love!"
"We went there last night for Deadbeats, primarily to see Zeds Dead. Had never been there before. We bought tickets for the outdoor venue and for the After Dark party (indoors) as well. We had no idea what to expect from this venue but were thoroughly delighted. Well organized. Good security. Great vibe. Good amount of Porta Johns. Great sound at both the indoor and outdoor venues. And the drinks were good and reasonably priced! Really impressed and we’ll definitely be back for more."
"Love this place! It's the second time I've been here for an event. The staff is always nice and funny. They sell ear plugs for the events. They offer lockers and coat check. There are 2 sets of bathrooms..1 on each side. Plenty of parking because I think they use 2 parking lots. They serve alcohol as well. They usually have multiple lanes to get drinks so it goes really fast. Now wheelchair accessible, i have no idea...The event room is 2 story....ALWAYS A GOOD TIME! PEACE & LOVE IS ALWAYS THE VIBE!"
