"Hey, during dinner at the diner I said a few things to you that at the time I thought were in jest, but in hindsight, I realize were teetering on hostile and passive-aggressive. I'm not making excuses or saying it was OK, but I'm not perfect either, and I believe it came from a place of insecurity. You, you're mother, Mike, and Reshat all went out of the way for me; and it really meant more than you can imagine. You were wonderful, cordial, and kind and I'd like to apologize for some of the slights or jokes I made. When no relationship has been established which might foster such banter, that flavor of interaction can come off as tasteless, hurtful and offensive. I suppose, at my core, acceptance from you and your family was so important I became insecure. So if I can get a redo on a few dialogs I'd like to say,"you made it into Boston University at 16 and earned a PHD? That's really incredible and it blows my mind you're so brilliant. Though I can't lay claim to supporting you through your journey in achieving your accolades I'm still so proud of you for reasons I really don't understand myself. You have 2 boys? I'm sure they're wonderful, and brilliant as well and I'm truly elated you shared that with me. I know we may not share the same perspective on "the situation," but to me, that makes me an uncle. That truly makes my soul sing. I've never had nephews before. You love Jewish art? Jewish art is great! The ability of an arrangement of paint on canvas to evocate feelings into your spirit is truly a gift, and an essential quality of person's humanity. Everyone, including myself are fans of art whether we've ever stopped to really think about it and acknowledge the fact or not. You had ambitions to go to med school or be a lawyer and veered into academics instead? That's beautiful; persue your dreams no matter which direction the wayward winds of fate may blow them. Life, if you're fortunate, is uncontrollable entropy, so to land in academics through the maelstrom is incredible, whatever your profession, being able to support a healthy family is a miracle in itself these days. Please continue being awesome, and please, please forgive anything I said that had a snide tone. I promise I am prioritizing emotional maturity in my journey, I'd love for you, in some capacity to be involved in it. Again, Infinitely grateful, Johann Ibis"
"Met the kindest bar owner. SHE made me feel welcomed and i enjoyed the drinks. GREAT PLACE!"
"2:00am! We had the worst travel day ever. Came here for a night cap and we LOVED it! Silkie is quirky and has stories and makes everything herself! We got amazing drinks, food, and a great time! Plus Sabrina the dog is absolutely fab!"
"This bar is an institution in New Rochelle. Its owner and operator Silkie does a great job cultivating a fun environment for all patrons. The drinks (especially Silkie’s signature rumba) are phenomenal, and the snack baskets are delicious. There are a pool table, and dart board. The bathrooms are decorated… interestingly. In October 2022 Larry Sharpe met some supporters here during a stop on his campaign for NY Governor."
"This is largely in argument with some recent negative reviews, this is largely because they make accusations of fake alcohol and whatnot. From stories of the incidents the individuals who made the review where rather heavy set or overweight, and as many will tell you such individuals require more alcohol in order to have a good time. From personal experience I can say that 2 of her specialty “rumbas” get me where I need to be (I’m 200 pounds for context), I enjoy the vibes and the drinks, so please disregard this slander and get a damn rumba and ignore this clear anti-silky slander."
