Reviews of Surf City Bark Park
"Our dogs fully enjoyed their outing here playing with other bigger pups. One thing I find would be an improvement is how they do their fencing between the small and larger dog areas. There is already separate placement for the size of dogs, I feel like the amount of fencing currently placed between the sides isn't beneficial to keeping them fully separated and safe. No small dogs ended up in the small dog section while the big dogs were all playing together, but I saw 2 owners with 2 smalls walking around the outskirts of the park, circling back occasionally to see if we were all still there. I feel that they probably felt anxiety about bringing their tiny pups in while there were so many larger ones right along the other side of metal link fence. I feel that if there were non-sight boards posted along the inner fence that it would be beneficial to both the larger and smaller dogs playing area so they don't get overwhelmed with not being able to fully greet each other since there is a fence between them. Some dogs will bark and yell at the fencing because they can't get through to say hi and sniff butts like dogs do. If there were safe boards put in place that they couldn't see or reach to the other side, I feel like it would help calm anxieties for pups and owners alike. That's really my only notice to the park where it could use some extra TLC."
"Very nicely maintained. The sitting bench was cleaned off and very nice. There was a great watering area and there were no other dogs here around 3 pm. Will be back!"
"Kinda disappointed with this dog park. No other dogs but I guess that's how it is. Been to three dog parks so far and no dogs! New Bern, Newport and this one. Where are the dogs? This park was really tucked away in the back and we almost didn't see it. It's there, you just have to go past the playground, which was also empty. Maybe the beware of snakes and alligators sign has something to do with it. Didn't see any. Just some fisherman walking nearby."
"Very nice dog park! 3 stars for not being obvious. Without the maps it feels like you would not know it's here. The fence that separates the small/large dog park feels like it needs repair. See picture. Small dog owners beware. Located behind the surf city community center. Talk to a few locals while I was here. Nobody ever visits the dog park. Feels like it's very rare to get enough dogs here to actually play together. A live camera would be a perfect addition. During my visit the water for the dogs didn't work. It's very nice but it did not work. Perhaps they'll shut off from the winter?"
"Best dog park near the greater Jacksonville area. Water is available on site and a trail is connected to entrance of park if a walk is needed before or after play. Park is divided into area for large and smaller dogs. Highly recommend enjoying the trail if you visit this location and stop at nearby dog wash after visit."
