"Wonderful place to see swamp and bald cypresses! We didn’t do kayaking in Congaree national park since it was 3 hour tour and my toddler won’t sit so much time but we really enjoyed it here in Robertson Millpond preserve, it took 45 min for us to do the round loop."
"Coolest place to paddle in the area! It's like floating through an ancient forest. Definitely check water levels before going as you could get stuck. Buoy trail is set up so it's easy to follow and you don't have to worry about getting lost. There's an outfitter that rents kayaks here on Saturdays if you don't have your own. Wooden ramp to help get kayaks in/out. This is easily one of my favorites to kayak at."
"I just recently started visiting this park even though I moved to a nearby town in 2014. I somehow did not know about this amazing park to go boating at! I purchased an inflatable small boat and went rowing a couple times already. Amazing photography opportunities and just relaxing. You can rent a kayak on Saturdays or if you have your own you can go any day of the week! The pond closes at 7:30. So obviously you need to be off the water by then. I rinsed off my boat, my oars and just had an amazing time. They have life preservers you can use if you don't have your own life jacket. Which I think is such an amazing touch. What an amazing little treasure. I don't think people realize how rare it is to have an area like this, this far inland with all of the cypress gum trees etc. It's like going back in time. Or at least being in Louisiana again, for me! Highly recommend! Such a serene place."
"Robertson Millpond is such a beautiful paddle! There’s an easy launch, well marked directional buoys, lots of birds and wildlife, a clean porta-potty, and a hose to rinse your boat or board off when you’re done! It’s a wonderful, peaceful paddle and a great way to be on the water without being in direct sun all afternoon! Kayak rentals are available on a very limited basis (restricted days and times). I bring my own but worth noting for those who don’t. Check website for rental availability in advance."
"Great location for a scenic kayaking or canoe excursion. Had buoys to mark the route as you paddle through an 85-acre park layered with beautiful trees and even a few beaver dams. Has a nice shelter area and a few docks. No public bathroom. Convenient commute for Raleigh/Durham NC communities."
