Reviews of Dhaka Garden
"The service is so bad, Mannerless mid age lady. They don’t even know how to treat their customers. Even though there were no any other customers, they forced us to leave the restaurant after meal."
"I eat there all the time. They’re doi is must try"
"We had a 2 hours layover in NY and some friends took us to Dhaka Garden for lunch. We were a group of 11 people and lucky got tables right away. The staffs were very helpful, friendly and attentive. They handled our group with care even though they were busy. We ended up ordering SO many items (sorry can’t remember all of them) and everything was very delicious! Was surprised to see how huge their serving sizes were for biryanis!! We also had their lassies and milk teas…yummy! The restaurant was very clean, which was impressive. Will definitely visit them again when we are in NY."
"Nice and clean place for Bangladeshi food. The service is great and the food doesn’t take too long after ordering. They have a good menu to choose from. The kacchi was average and the duck curry was the best among all the dishes so its a must try. The porota’s are made fresh so enjoyed the porotas. The chicken roast was good too. Overall satisfied with the food and service."
"We went to Dhaka Garden twice so far. The first time around we got the kachi biryani because the employee told us the chicken biryani wasn’t good that day. The kachi biryani costs more than the chicken biryani but we did not think anything of it as we believed he was trying to enhance our experience. We also got chicken tikka and a mango lassi. The food was good and we decided to return a second time with our dad. This time the employee said the chicken biryani is good so we got that as well as chicken tikka, fish, and mixed vegetable fried rice. The “salad” that came with it was basically gross lettuce, dried up lime slices, and sliced onion. I’m not sure if the lettuce was even washed or not but it definitely wasn’t fresh and looked unappetizing. The utensils were not washed properly either. I was starting to wonder if I should have even come here considering the aforementioned. The biryani had hard clumps of rice, which I’m assuming may have been from the bottom of the pot. It was really hot inside too. They just had a standing fan running which was not enough to cool the store down. The employees (I’m not sure if they are the owners but one woman with the henna hair and one man) are very pushy, so perhaps they own the place. They are always asking if we would like lassi or this or that or the other. It’s not like it’s on the house to make up for the fact that they don’t have an item in stock. Instead, they just keep pushing hoping you’ll purchase more and more. They also stand right by your table and watch you as you eat, which is super awkward and annoying. We dined in and also took an order to go. When it was time to pay, I saw that there was an extra 15% charge which I didn’t experience the first time I visited. Usually, restaurants will charge a gratuity fee if you come in a group of 5+. We were only 3 people. Furthermore, there was no sign posted nor was the menu edited to reflect their new haphazard policy. I asked her when they started charging an extra 15%, and she had no response. The 15% should not be mandatory unless they have a policy that is clearly outlined. Some people may want to tip more than 15%, and some may want to give less. After tonight’s experience, we won’t be back."
