Little River Fishing Facility
About the Business
Little River Fishing Facility is a popular tourist attraction located at 1500 Orange Factory Road in Durham, North Carolina, United States. The facility offers bank fishing at Little River Lake, but visitors must have N.C. Wildlife Resource Commission fishing licenses. As the lake is a primary water supply for the City of Durham, recreational activities are limited and controlled to protect the water source.
Durham Parks and Recreation is phasing out battery and motor boat rentals at Little River Lake in favor of more environmentally sustainable non-motorized options. Fishing kayaks are available for rent. Please note that the facility's season opening for 2024 will be delayed due to necessary repairs. Weekly updates on the facility's status can be found at https://www.dprplaymore.org/531/ParkPlayground-Updates.
To receive the Play More Card discount, visitors must show their card to the attendant. Failure to follow City rules or State Law regarding PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices) may result in the suspension of privileges or fines issued by the NC Wildlife Commission. Visit the Play More Card page for more information on the benefits program.

Reviews
"I went looking for Bass, & my wife went for catfish. We did catch a nice sized cat, but sadly, no Bass today... there's always next time!"
"I took my grandson out fishing, and he had a great time out on the boat and of course he was able to catch some nice bass. I would recommend this fishing facility to everyone."
"Pretty fishing hole with friendly staff. If you're not looking to rent a boat, I would hold off coming early on weekends as you may have to wait up 45 minutes to even drop a line as they'll process the all the boat registrations first and that takes a while."
"We had a great time, caught a good number of fish (mostly crappie), too! The people there were helpful and friendly, and the only negative seemed to be that previous fishermen left some junk (hooks, bottles, etc) where we were fishing, and we had young kids learning to fish."
"Great little place to take the kids fishing. Under 18s fish free. Bathrooms on site. NO BAIT SALES, PLAN AHEAD."
